did you try booting with -s and -x flags ?
Yes, I've tried all sorts of boot flags but everytime I end up with the same result

Thanks liteon6x!
@theagent Yes there are a few programs that you simply can't get for PC. For example, I work in theatre and I have yet to find a better cue playback/show control program than Qlab, which is a Mac-only program
Yes, Mac OS X would make this great laptop even better. Unfortunately, the link that OP posted is a hoax. I don't think anyone has managed to install OS X on Y500. We all experience the same problem: black screen, fans raging and then the restart.

I may have missed something, but why is this a problem given that OSX runs happily on the latest MBA?
Previous versions of OS X didn't support Haswell processors but as of 10.8.5 Apple added support for Haswell

It wasn't in the past. However, Apple recently released 10.8.5 which now supports Haswell processors. So that might be a good start.

But Y500/Y400 should work *in theory*

Windows 8 in my opinion is a very bad choice for gaming. The RAM usage of just being idle is rather big. Metro is another drawback for me, it just warps the true nature and look of windows. Windows 7 is the most stable of all windows OSes. If you like fancy animations and other stuff I'd say go for win 8, but if you are looking for stability, reliability, support and are a gamer, go for win 7.

I have Crucial m4 128GB. Read: 500MB, Write: 175MB. What can I say, since I haven't tried SSDs before, it's blazingly fast! Boot up ~11s, I am running Win 7. Making great laptop even better!

You can do this through virtualization. You might find this link useful

I've tried installing iAtkos ML2 and S3 on Y500 but unfortunately I had no luck in that. The screen went black just after I pressed to boot the OS X installation. I'm suspecting either my flash drive is faulty somehow or GPU is not supported.

How can I patch my installation with it?
