  1. Greatest success - error 12. And HP EliteBook 8470p configuration graphics card AMD Radeon HD 7570M + PE4H-EC060A V3.2 + R9 270, and in the configuration of HP Probook 4530s with RADEON HD 4870 card in the device PE4H-EC060A V3.2.

I can not get rid of the error when compiling a file with the extension DSL to a file with the extension ASL!

Please suggest whether to be relieved of my file dsdt.dsl errors?

If not here, then where can I get help?

    Thanks in advance!

P.S. If DSDT correction does not solve my problem, please confirm that only Setup 1.30 solve my problem.

I can confirm that only setup 1.3 solved my problem (black screen hang issue) on my 8440p. I would recommend setup 1.3 just for its handiness.

I find it highly likely setup 1.3 would fix you error 12.

  2. So are you saying my lenovo sl500 is compatible, and my 9800 gtx+ is not? Would there be any possible way to setup an egpu with the 9800 gtx+? I know it supports pcie 2.0. Would it need a pe4l or pe4h? If it's not possible then which graphics card would be the best for the money just to play minecraft and some valve games like gmod and counter strike: go at higher end settings?

You will want a PE4L (GEN 2). 560ti provides excellent value for money I believe, however if you cannot stretch to that then a GTX 460 would probably serve you well. The 9800 would work but would not provide that much improvement.

  3. SATA cables are used for data transfer already, I see no reason why they cannot be used for PCIe based signals as well. We know from SATA3 they can support 6GB/s and with PCIe Gen2 @ 1x only using 5GB/s, this is more than adequate. Not really a step back if it works while being socketed.

    @Tech Inferno Fan

I googled it but didnt find much.

Did find this (what I was talking about before) however:

A SATA Power to PCI Six pin

  4. PE4H 2.4b + EC2C + PCIEMM060B passes Gen2 test with AMD Radenon HD7xxx

As many of you know, BPlus at one stage advertised their PE4L 1.5 and 2.4b as Gen2 capable with their newer PCIEMM060B cable. In private discussion they indicated testing with a desktop + AMD Radeon HD7xxx found this to be the case.

I earlier tested a PE4H 2.4b + EC2C + PCIEMM060B with my HP 2570P and a MSI GTX660Ti finding it failed Gen2 testing, as did a number of other eGPU users upon which I advised them to cease that advertising. However in an unusual twist, testing the exact same eGPU hardware using a 2570P + Gigabyte AMD HD7xxx Radeon found it works at Gen2 speed.

It still does indicate that the soldered cable of a PE4L 2.1b or PE4H 3.2 has the better pci-e signal integrity and those earlier editions of the hardware be avoided if using a NVidia card.

Bummer, I was planning on downgrading to a PE4H 2.4 for my 560ti, as I figured out what was causing my problem. It was simply the fact that I had the PE4L on too tight a bend in the case, having a more flexible PCIEMM-060B cord that comes with the PE4H 2.4 would have fixed this issue. Would you recommend I hold off on my purchase?

Also I have been trying to find a mini HDMI male to mini HDMI male on www.dx.com without much success. Anyone got a current link or an alternative?

Do you think a normal hdmi cable would work with two of these ? Or would the signal degradation be too great? Sorry for all the questions.

  5. Wow. Uhm...

How about using a SATA cable? Shielded lanes. We know it can support 6 GB/s soooo that should be good enough. I think that is suitable for a socketed system.

Can't believe we all forgot about it.

    @angerthosenear

Are you talking about using the SATA cables for data transfer? This is interesting, and goes away from the HDMI completely, which I am not sure bplus would be keen to do,

seeing as they have devoted the last however many years on improving it. Also It would seem like a semi back step with technology like tb out there now.

Two interesting links I found about the next sata revision SATA 3.2/SATA Express.

SATA Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    SATA-IO announces 16Gb/s SATA 3.2 specification | bit-tech.net

It seems as though PCI-express is continuing to become the most popular bus.

  6. Hi guys I have been having problems with my setup over the last couple of days. It has gone from a one hit start up and go to a one hour nuisance to get started.

For some reason I am getting crashes after the windows logo (sometimes). Sometimes it works fine (I have no idea what enables this though). My process is decidedly simple. Boot up, DIY eGPU setup, get the card detected, chainload to win7 using bootmgr (used to work fine all the time). However now it often just black screens and hangs after the windows logo disappears.

One thought I had would be to simply re-install setup 1.x (as I messed around a little to try and get the startup.bat to work). How would I go about doing that? If you know what my problem could be or just know how to wipe 1.x off for a fresh re-install please let me know.

    Cheers!

  7. The idea of abolishing SWEX is very interesting, however it would mean that there is an additional 24(or 20) cables going into the PExx and I am not too sure if that would work. I know it would reduce flexibility, however in saying that it would still be awesome.

Nando you could let bplus know that it would be awesome they could include an option of a larger switch (something like on the back of a PSU, but with a light maybe), that we could mount on the outside of our cases. I know I would find that useful. Obviously they would need an extra connector on the swex (or PExx) to accommodate it.

On the note of cables, I think that the current one is fine, but Bplus should make the mount stronger, and include more adapters on their website. PCI-e female so you could use 6 (or 8) pin pcie whatsits, 15 pin SATA female so you could use SATA power (probably the most common power source these days?) and possibly others, assuming you can actually adapt 3 pin fan molex (or whatever it is) to PCI-e or SATA.

By the way, quick question about cables. What does the red and black dupont cable do? I don't have mine plugged in, and my setup seems to be fine, so I am not sure what its purpose is.

  8. To mount the GPU I cut a little slot for the 90 degree curved edge in the IO shield (see picture), slotted that in and put a stray rivet through the hole (works quite well).

The PSU is mounted with a little bracket riveted along the floor (see pic two of first post) and the jug cord plug fits very snugly which keeps it pretty solid.

My PE4L is just on the bottom of the 560ti with some cardboard to help support it underneath.

If I turned my box upside-down, things would go pear-shaped. Apart from that I could carry it around fine though.

  9. @qapn

How do I get Optimus? Do I have Optimus? I don't really care about getting my internal display using the 560 Ti, I just want PCI-e compression

The desktop drivers have Optimus now. So yes you will most probably have PCI-e compression, feel free to run 3dmark06 to check.

Here are some pictures of my enclosure (for anyone interested):

I am getting a new fan because the current one is quite loud, but it will still be in the same position.

Feel free to ask if you want more photos/info.

  10. Hi I am not aware of anyone doing an eGPU implementation with a quadro or a firepro. So you might be the first to attempt something like that.

You would have to ask someone like @Tech Inferno Fan whether not it is worth even trying. In the mean time however I highly recommend upgrading your CPU,

as that is something you can definitely do. I would say a normal graphics card would still be better then nothing in terms of gfx development though

  11. @bestfeed

Hello. Sorry if I get you guys messed up.This is a very serious issue to me. I'm interested to make an external GPU for my laptop...But the problem is, I even don't know whether it has a PCI-E slot or not. Here are my laptop specs so far:Laptop Brand : ASUS K43SJOS : Windows 7 Ultimate 64xRAM : 6 GBCPU : Intel Pentium B940 2.00 GhzGPU : Nvidia GeForce GT 520M 1GB HDD : Seagate 500GB<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Ok does your laptop have WiFi or wireless internet? If so, it will likely be using a mPCIe slot. So if you are happy to lose your wireless internet then feel free to continue. However, your CPU is weak. 2GHz with no overclocking or hyper-threading.

You can most probably implement 1.Opt with a nvidia graphics card, as your processor has Intel HD Gfx, however even if you do get a whole lot more graphics power you will still be limited by your slow cpu.

I would recommend you open up your laptop and take a look inside (you may find you have a spare mPCIe). Feel free to take pictures (of the inside of you PC) and post them to me (or someone with more knowledge).

    Hope that helped.

Edit: Forget what I said about your CPU, you can quite possibly replace it with something FAR more powerful. Here is a list of all the CPU's that fit your socket: list

This all depends on how comfortable you are with your laptop however, as replacing a laptop CPU is no mediocre task.

  12. Hi I have acquired an old thermatake PSU, just wondering whether it has enough juice to support a 560ti.

It has a single 12V rail with 18A on it (so 216W available), however I have read that 560ti's can draw up to 350W at peak power,

would I be better off just looking at a GTX 460 (which are surprisingly more expensive)?

Here is a picture of the PSU info:

    post-16814-14494996607254_thumb.jpg

  13. Ok thanks, I thought this would be the case :(

I am now thinking about a 560ti as apparently the 203W PSU is more than enough to handle one of them.

I can still run 1.Opt which should give me decent enough speeds though.

Should I be getting a PE4L 1.5 or 2.1? and also does it matter which HDMI cord I get? (A or B, I assume B is backwards compatible)

Assuming I am reading my tolud correctly I have a tolud of 3GB, which means there is no

need for me to perform a DSDT override.

Thinking about a 660 now instead of a 560ti now, similar performance, more compact and less power draw.

Just wondering. seeing as I have expresscard slot and (seemingly) a spare mPCIe slot can i run 2.Opt??

  14. Awesome!

I don't suppose you could upload more/larger pictures?

That is pretty much exactly what I would like my end result to look like.

I don't suppose you could post a wiring diagram? I know there are heaps around

but it would be awesome to know how you did the light too.

Did you end up using a SWEX (ATX Power Supply Power-On Switch)?

  15. Hi everyone,

I am thinking about purchasing an eGPU setup but I just have a couple of questions first.

Firstly, I want to run my GTX 460/560 (not sure which to get yet) off a 203Watt Xbox 360 Power brick, is this possible/a good idea?

Secondly, after reading through the experiences thread I still have no idea whether my TOLUD is ok. Here is a picture of the readout:

    post-16814-14494996214978_thumb.jpg

    My specs are as follows:

    Chipset: Intel QM57 (SouthBridge)

    Processor: Intel i5 580m 2.67GHz (1st gen)

    Graphics: Intel HD Graphics

    RAM: 8GB DDR3

    HDD: Samsung 840 SSD

    OS: Windows 7 64Bit Professional

    Intputs: ExpressCard 54 and DisplayPort

Here is another picture with some more info:

    post-16814-14494996215292_thumb.jpg

It would seem as though my PCI is version 2 however the speed shows as 2.5GT's (which as I understand is PCI v1 speed)

I am planning on buying the PE4L (unless there is a reason I shouldn't).

    Thanks!

  16. Hi my name is Tim and I was found this forum after some googling as to exactly who Retired User 2 is on notebookreview. Suffice to say I will not be returning there. I am currently in my second year of studying computer science

and am into all kinds of computer stuff. The computer I am currently using was run over, however all that was needed was a new screen and now it works great! (Elitebook nc8440p)

I am very interested in eGPU's and will likely be posting asking multiple newbie questions about them soon.

    Cheers!
