  1. I would say lack of power. However this is obviously not the case, seems like a win7/8 software problem. Hopefully a game update/8.1 update will fix it for you guys
  2. I can confirm that only setup 1.3 solved my problem (black screen hang issue) on my 8440p. I would recommend setup 1.3 just for its handiness. I find it highly likely setup 1.3 would fix you error 12.
  3. You will want a PE4L (GEN 2). 560ti provides excellent value for money I believe, however if you cannot stretch to that then a GTX 460 would probably serve you well. The 9800 would work but would not provide that much improvement.
  4. Get the PE4L. I would recommend PE4l + geforce 660Ti for for best performance. Something like a corsair 430 would be good for a PSU. Not sure if you will need setup 1.x.
  5. @Tech Inferno Fan I googled it but didnt find much. Did find this (what I was talking about before) however: A SATA Power to PCI Six pin
  6. Bummer, I was planning on downgrading to a PE4H 2.4 for my 560ti, as I figured out what was causing my problem. It was simply the fact that I had the PE4L on too tight a bend in the case, having a more flexible PCIEMM-060B cord that comes with the PE4H 2.4 would have fixed this issue. Would you recommend I hold off on my purchase? Also I have been trying to find a mini HDMI male to mini HDMI male on www.dx.com without much success. Anyone got a current link or an alternative? Do you think a normal hdmi cable would work with two of these ? Or would the signal degradation be too great? Sorry for all the questions.
  7. @angerthosenear Are you talking about using the SATA cables for data transfer? This is interesting, and goes away from the HDMI completely, which I am not sure bplus would be keen to do, seeing as they have devoted the last however many years on improving it. Also It would seem like a semi back step with technology like tb out there now. Two interesting links I found about the next sata revision SATA 3.2/SATA Express. SATA Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia SATA-IO announces 16Gb/s SATA 3.2 specification | bit-tech.net It seems as though PCI-express is continuing to become the most popular bus.
  8. Hi guys I have been having problems with my setup over the last couple of days. It has gone from a one hit start up and go to a one hour nuisance to get started. For some reason I am getting crashes after the windows logo (sometimes). Sometimes it works fine (I have no idea what enables this though). My process is decidedly simple. Boot up, DIY eGPU setup, get the card detected, chainload to win7 using bootmgr (used to work fine all the time). However now it often just black screens and hangs after the windows logo disappears. One thought I had would be to simply re-install setup 1.x (as I messed around a little to try and get the startup.bat to work). How would I go about doing that? If you know what my problem could be or just know how to wipe 1.x off for a fresh re-install please let me know. Cheers!
  9. The idea of abolishing SWEX is very interesting, however it would mean that there is an additional 24(or 20) cables going into the PExx and I am not too sure if that would work. I know it would reduce flexibility, however in saying that it would still be awesome. Nando you could let bplus know that it would be awesome they could include an option of a larger switch (something like on the back of a PSU, but with a light maybe), that we could mount on the outside of our cases. I know I would find that useful. Obviously they would need an extra connector on the swex (or PExx) to accommodate it. On the note of cables, I think that the current one is fine, but Bplus should make the mount stronger, and include more adapters on their website. PCI-e female so you could use 6 (or 8) pin pcie whatsits, 15 pin SATA female so you could use SATA power (probably the most common power source these days?) and possibly others, assuming you can actually adapt 3 pin fan molex (or whatever it is) to PCI-e or SATA. By the way, quick question about cables. What does the red and black dupont cable do? I don't have mine plugged in, and my setup seems to be fine, so I am not sure what its purpose is.
  10. To mount the GPU I cut a little slot for the 90 degree curved edge in the IO shield (see picture), slotted that in and put a stray rivet through the hole (works quite well). The PSU is mounted with a little bracket riveted along the floor (see pic two of first post) and the jug cord plug fits very snugly which keeps it pretty solid. My PE4L is just on the bottom of the 560ti with some cardboard to help support it underneath. If I turned my box upside-down, things would go pear-shaped. Apart from that I could carry it around fine though.
  11. @qapn The desktop drivers have Optimus now. So yes you will most probably have PCI-e compression, feel free to run 3dmark06 to check. Here are some pictures of my enclosure (for anyone interested): I am getting a new fan because the current one is quite loud, but it will still be in the same position. Feel free to ask if you want more photos/info.
  12. Hi just thought I would post up my results: 3DMark06 [h=1]15594[/h] 3DMarkVantage [h=1]P12259[/h] 3DMark11 [h=1]P3650[/h] System: 14" HP 8440p CPU: i5 580m 2.67GHz RAM: 8GB Gfx: GTX 560ti 1.Opt Chipset: QM57 EC OS: Win7/64 Setup 1.x - Yes (required)
  13. Flexible, detachable cable (the current PE4L one is a real pain) x16 lockable (as previously stated, it is quite loose). Bigger screw holes (this applies to swex as well). More solid power connector; the current one is a little flimsy, and I think if you disconnected and reconnected too much it would break.
  14. @Tech Inferno Fan Hi sorry to be a pain but I have all my parts now and I am having the exact same problem Ramizs had with his 8440 (link). Just wondering if anyone has figured out a fix since then. Otherwise it would seem I need setup 1.3. If this is the case just PM me how I buy it .
  15. @artixalpha Socket G2 was made for 2nd and 3rd gen Intel processors, so no I do not believe you will find any. G1 was made for 1st Gen i series (i3,i5,i7).
