  1. GTX 680 Dedected + drivers installed on my MBA. Waiting for eGPU setup 1.2 to do its magic to eliminate my error 12
  2. Hey Nando, I am implementing the eGPU with gtx 680 (AMP edition) on my Macbook Air. The only thing left to purchase now is the PSU. Its max power requirement is 195W. Now I am confused as to how the PSUs work? Is the single cable from the PSU have a specific current output OR it can have the max possible output from the PSU unit if no other wires are used/connected? Also the V/A also is not specified anywhere for this. Also, kindly suggest the best possible PSU ======================== PS. Waiting for new eGPU setups on the new MBP with thunderbolt 2
  3. Thanks, much clear! (was hoping an eGPU via this route ) PS. Anyone selling their TH05?
  4. So what you are saying in a nutshell is that the [Thunderbolt Port] is not connected internally/directly to the [PCIe slot]? If yes, then eGPU will not happen, correct? There are many gigabyte/asus motherboards having dual thunderbolt ports (using Intel DSL3510L chip:2). Wondering if eGPU is possible this way - then it can become a truly stepping stone for a full fledged PC in the future
  5. Then why is this method not that famous? Thunderbolt motherboards are available for well under 150$
  6. Here is a theory - Why can't a full fledged desktop motherboards with thunderbolt ports be used for eGPU? The way I figure it, PE4L/PE4H/TH05 are miniature version of the motherboard itself (just having a PCIe + TB)? Any thoughts on this?
  7. little more confused - - - Updated - - - Thanks, I will purchasing once all my H/W comes. Also, since I have a 2012 MBA (with Intel HD 4000 iGPU) and will be using [GTX 680 2GB] + [PE4L] + [sonnet Echo] ... will I get "x1.2Opt (Optimus) x1 pci-e compression" (something which I've read in the forums for much better performance). --------------------- Do let me know if this is the wrong thread to ask this Q
  8. Thanks! I have already purchased [PE4L] + [sonnet Echo] and have 2012 MBA (not MBP). Is that going to be an issue with regards to bandwidth?
  9. Hi all, I too am preparing my own eGPU setup as follows: [GTX 680 2GB] + [PE4L] + [sonnet Echo] + [TB cable] + [250W PSU] + [DIY eGPU1.2] + MBA 2012 model My Doubts: 1. Instead of PE4L V2.1 ( PCIe Adapter ) if I purchase PE4H (PCIe passive adapter ver2.4) will it give performance boost? Since former one uses 1x whereas later uses 16x (my theoratical understanding - that later will have faster bus speed). Also, is PE4H V3.2 (PCIe x1 Adapter) is benificial only for having an enclosure or any other advantage? Just for my understanding - the graphics card motherboard connection has huge (x16) length than the PCIe adapter (which covers only 1/16th or less/more of it). So that does effect the bus/other speed, right? How much will the graphics card underperform? 2. Sonnet Echo will converts 10GBps TB link to 5GBps ExpressCard. An expensive $320 Sonnet Echo Express SE is available with 10GBps speed. But, as cleared by Tech Inferno Fan earlier, it has issues (an underpowered power supply, no PCI Delay switch, etc). So, are there any other alternatives for the same? If not, then isSonnet Echo enough to give good fps? Once my doubts are cleared, I will start with my setup and will surely post the experience on the way and results/best practices! Thanks in advance
