  1. ok so heres the deal, i always play with vsync on, i know that it drops some frames, but i hate the screen tearing. before the 1.9 update on Cry2 vsync would allow the frames up to 60 but as of the 1.9 im capped at 40. i know i am to expect some epic frame loss do to the Dx11 and Hi Res pack. while in game on full screen @ 900p i get 38-40 fps vsync on, same setting but in windowed im getting 60.1 fps (same spot just standing. no action going on)

    what can i do to get my cap up'd to 60?

  2. ok so i love the m14x but i hate its performance when unplugged. for a laptop that states "dominate from anywhere" yet has to down clock to prevent from shutting down seems a little foolish.

    i mean if i do return i will get the m17x because i would like a bigger computer.... do you think i have grounds to return?

    i am out of my 21 day return but its under 2months old... help.

  3. well ill start by saying that this little monster (no pun intended) can run F3AR at a nice frame rate at max setting with FxAA and vsync at a whopping 35FPS.

    the game tends to spike up to 60fps but never goes below 30fps. through my play though the game never dipped below 32FPS and that is with every guard shooting at me and explosions going on all around.

    OC'd GPU used. OC @ 750/1500/1080

    Micro review:

    NO spoilers :D

    this game was fun, it take the player to some strange locations all the while being talked to by a strange voice. the best way to describe what the atmosphere looks like would be a mixture of satanism and Halloween.

    alas f3ar does not live up to its name, for a title with an intense emotion as its name that game does not strike fear into the players, but it does make them feel uncomfortable (in a good way).

    overall 7.5/10

  4. my advice would be to update to the 2275.33 driver (there is a thread on this board by stevenX) and from there just try and see how far you can overclock your GPU.

    use EVGA and take it slow.

    i use 750/1080 some use 700/1000 and the highest ive seen is 790/1080

    the m14x is a powerful little notebook (little for me anyway lol) and it dosnt really need anything aside from a modest overclock.

  5. really strange, so i forced install of teh .50 driver and then i get a black screen at log in, so in safe mode i removed all the drivers and registry files. i installed factory 267 drivers and all is well. i will try to go back to the .33, will update if it works.

    PS anybody else tried teh .50 and had any issues?

    EDIT* after going back to the .33 i noticed that it would fail to install the physX, but it would say that it is installed.

    during the installation i unticked every box save for the driver (275.33) and physX and it said that the driver was installed but physx failed.

    under the Nv control panel it reads that i have the latest version....

    i will keep trying to install the .50 but perhaps the INF or the download is/was corrupted?

  6. hey guys, ok so i just found this strange.

    my max oc (GFX) is 770 anything over and i get artifacts. so on BFBC2, RE5 and gta/eflc the gtx at 770 is stable, but on C2 770 crashes the gfx card and reverts it to 590.

    can anyone else try this and confirm that it is not just my system. my compromise OC is 750, but i like to squeeze the max that i can get :D

  7. Well gaming on m14x as we all may know is not ideal in terms of heat, some of you may use a cooler others (such as myself) just raise the back a bit.

    honestly the normal temps i see when playing GTA4 is about 89*C keep in mind that this is with the back raised about 1.5 inches.

    today, as i stated i was messing with the GFX settings and i had the GFX card OC'd to 750/1500/1080 and again with the back raised it reaches 89*C but this is after 1.5-2Hrs of gaming. but the starge thing is that after 15min MAX (more like 10 but for the benefit of the doubt) it must of hit the TJ because the computer just shut off, ive never had this happen before and after that happened i played RE5 for about 2hrs with the back NOT raised, and that did not get over 85*C.

    Note:

    i have never opened the computer, aside from swapping the HDD with a SSD.

  8. As wbabt007 pointed out above the Recommended requirements are far surpassed by the m14x. BF:BC2 runs at about 35/40 - 60Fps at all high with vsync on and AA at 2x at 720p (1366x768) {i have teh 600p screen and it look NICE at 720p} BF3 runs on teh same engine as BF:BC2 (Frost Bite 2.0) so if anything at all high with vsync and AA im sure it will run at 30+ FPS

    and as for Mw3, Mw2 runs at a sexy 40Fps+ on all high with AA and vsync. so Mw3 should as well :D

    trust me you( and I, as well) will have Zero issues with these games.

  9. hey guys, on my m14x the port where the charging cable connects tends to have a good amount of wiggle. as in i can move it side to side about 1/8 inch (perhaps a bit less)

    excuse my poor diagram.

    |

    ``` this represents the cable in m14x as it should be.
    now i am able to "wiggle" the cable something like this
    \|/
    ``` where the \|/ is the cable and the ``` is the m14x. of course its not a 45* angle but its alot of wiggle IMO.

    do you guys have this issue?
