  1. I don't own a MACBook but I'm pretty sure you have an iGPU. What's your CPU?
  2. @kaladeth I went from a i3-3120m to a i7-3632QM hehe. As long as the socket is the same you can do the upgrade in theory. Laptop: Fujitsu AH532 CPU:i7-3632QM (was i3-3120m) GPU:Gtx 660 MSI Frozer III RAM: 4 Gb PE4L-EC100A, Gen2 via Setup 1.X Here are the "default" benchmarks with external screen, i3-3120m and GTX660 3DMark11: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7435207 3DMark06: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm06/17434945 and here the benchmarks with internal screen (I no longer have the LCD screen), i7-3632QM and GTX660 3DMark11: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7617074 3DMark06: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm06/17465681 In games like Crysis 3, FPS didn't increase, maybe 1-2 FPS, but where I had lags and stuttering with the i3-3120m, the i7-3632QM seem to handle all overload and the game is maybe at low frames (Welcome to the Jungle) but at least it doesn't lag which is for me quite an improvement.
  3. @angerthosenear well actually turnon->Setup 1.x-> (compaction and stuffs) -> chainload os -> plug eGPU --> blackscreen Now the blackscreen isn't the issue, I always had it and I think it meant that monitoring is switched from iGPU and handled by eGPU. After the blackscreen the eGPU fans start spinning like at 100% and there's error 43. But anyways it's like it's working right now so I won't bother you with it. Thanks again. PS: I have the PE4L 2.1
  4. Yaaay thanks for your answer that did it. I had to delete the eGPU folder in safe mode. Reinstalled setup 1.2 and everything is all right. Thank you so much. EDIT: hey @angerthosenear, my eGPU setup is kinda acting weird. Same issue happened, I plug the HMDI through ExpressCard, black screen then fans start spinning like hell and I get error 43. I'm not sure what exactly I've done but I removed the HDMI cable and plugged it back and that solved the issue. It's good that it's working but I feel it's unstable. I should also mention that I got a new CPU, but I'm not sure that it's the cause.
  5. I'm having some trouble with the eGPU, after the error 12, error 43 appeared. I couldn't manage to solve it. So I decided to reinstall setup 1.2 since it previously created a drive from which it could operate. And that drive always showed an mounting error on windows startup. I formated the drive. Ran the setup1.2 install but an error came: Cannot create eGPU-setup-120.img. Since files were already extracted on C:, I just ran the setup, but then it hangs Should I mount the Setup 1.x image and create devcon.txt (recommend Y=YES)? [N,Y ]?Y [eGPU-Setup-mount]: Attempting to mount eGPU-Setup-120.img as v: I hope I won't have to reinstall Windows. EDIT: AFter just leaving the setup-mount step by logging off and restarting the PC, the v-drive has mounted. Now I have a v-drive empty... EDIT2: Ok Setup finishes but the mounted drive is still empty
  6. I guess you'll have to take off the wifi card but just to make sure take a look again and see if there isn't another mPCIe slot (convenient if you want to play online games). You'll have to make a DSDT ovveride because there isn't enough memory allocation for the eGPU or you'll get a "error 12". That would be the last thing before drivers install. I think so. Do you have a power supply (PSU)?
  7. The Intel HD3000 is the integrated graphic card. You can actually run the eGPU on the internal screen because you have a Intel HD that allows Optimus to switch from it to the eGPU (external GPU). Now if you don't have the Expresscard slot you probably have the mPCIe (it's a wifi device slot). But that would mean you'll have to open the laptop in order to plug the eGPU setup.
  8. The 660ti is the graphic card (GPU), the 6650M is discrete graphic card and not external. What is you CPU, and do you have an ExpressCard slot?
  9. @Tech Inferno Fan @angerthosenear Thanks guys but as you may have noticed I managed to find how to solve the non-so-issue. angerthosenear, well I wanted to install XP a while ago just so I could play some games, but actually Win7 is perfect for me.
  10. EDIT: Please do not consider this post, or read only the first few lines. Solved issue from remaking a DSDT override. I saw that error 12 in devices so I understood where it was coming from ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OMG I guess this is my unlucky day, after the CPU that does'nt work now it's the eGPU that is having troubles. Trying to make the CPU work I took apart the laptop to find the CMOS that I took off and plugged back in. (that didn't change anything BTW). Turned on the PC so I could play some BF3. Let me explain to you how my PC act after I plug in the eGPU through ExpressCard: - plug in sound - screen freezes then goes black - connection lost (must reconnect) Then I have my functionnal Gen2 eGPU. Since when I tried, I plug the eGPU and that's all none of the black screen or whatsoever. I go to GPU-Z, no gen2 link, no clocks, take a look at attached. I hope there's a workaround, I tried reinstalling drivers, but no changes.
  11. I have a i3 and yes when I put it back everything runs fine. I admit it's a bit strange.
  12. Yes; I thought it was since it is listed here http://globalsp.ts.fujitsu.com/dmsp/Publications/public/ds-LIFEBOOK-AH532.pdf; maybe it's not how can I verify?
  13. @angerthosenear, well installing XP is quite a pain on this laptop, I'll try it whenever I have some time @samiirds again I don't have much time, but yes I plug the fans to the power rail Hey guys the i7-3632QM I've ordered came and after install and bios update, it doesn't run, I have a black screen only.. Laptop: Fujitsu AH532 i3-3120M
  14. Wow, I'm getting a bit lost, I'm using the same PSU for fans and GPU. When the fans are connected I have no more Gen2, without them everything is fine. @noric Unfortunately no. I get stuck at the DSDT override. Someone with better and more knowledge could succeed probably.
  15. @angerthosenear, I've a 350 W PSU, I checked the cables many times but couldn't figure what could be the cause. @Khenglish Well since the setup is in a case, the fans could be pretty close (in relative way), but the fan's cable aren't so close.
  16. Whenever I try to connect fans with the 4 pins of PSU the Gen2 doesn't work, seems like the eGPU requires all PSU power or something.. @EpicBlob very nice, though I'm sure you could gain better FPS if you lowered your resolution (that would be my choice).
  17. Very interesting, I've ordered a i7-3632QM that should be in my possession Wednesday or Tuesday, and from what I read upgrading for a 4 cores would really improve FPS. That would be great considering that the GPU could hit like 35-40 fps on high settings and 1360x768 without dropping from these values. Yay
  18. Ok, although I find it strange that the performance drops when I change those settings, but I can be wrong since I use Crysis 3 to see how performance does and fps varies a lot since its very demanding game. For clocks I'm looking to overclock right now I've unlocked voltages and I'll see how I can boost a little those clocks. Thanks again EDIT: Ooops Didn't unlock voltages yes. I thought it succeeded but I'm way to. EDIT2: Voltages unlocked I see it changes values in GPU-Z
  19. @angerthosenear thanks I was able to switch from 32 to 16 bit but strange thing, I had worse performances... By the way I noticed in MSI Afterburner that my GTX Core clock was 594, while GPU-Z is 1033Mhz? How could that be, is it because of bandwith limitation?? Also I want to make some overclocking any advices?
  20. Yo, It's been few months since I registred, so I guess it's never too late to introduce myself I always loved video games since the Atari (wow long way ago), I had a laptop but couldn't play with and because of mobility couldn't have a desktop. So I came across this amazing site, in which the DIY eGPU thread was presented to me like the Graal, the ultimate concept. I successfully implented an eGPU on Fujitsu AH532 with a GTX 660. So thanks everyone for your time, support and informations.
  21. @samiirds Since the eGPU is available on GPU-Z that means Optimus is doing fine. Now what bugs me is that you have only "DirectCompute" that's checked in the Computing options. I think it's because you don't have the Gen2 enabled. Someone should confirm that. @all Now other questions, I saw that there are some tweaks to obtain more performance such as change the depth color from 32 to 16, or minimize the bus communication. Can someone please explain to my incapable brain what is it about (just the Bus tweak). Much appreciated.
  22. Ok; alors désolé mais il est possible d'utiliser l'écran du portable même sans Intel HD. Pour cela il faut que tu te penches sur les méthodes possibles listées sur la première page 4. Can I make this work using just my notebook's LCD display?[h=2]Spoiler[/h]The desktop video card outputs to it's HDMI/VGA/DVI connector. The notebook's LCD display uses a LVDS input on your systemboard with no external jack to connect to it. Meaning then they cannot be physically connected together unless adapt a US$30 ebay kits allowing external input to the internal LCD as discussed, which only quite an advanced user would ever attempt. Another more elegant solution would use a HDMI input expresscard as described at Play PS3/X360 on laptop screen using new HDMI Input Express Card. . Though current costs of $170 for the item makes it unattractive AND you'd need to then do a mPCIe eGPU implementation. There are however these less drastic ways of getting your accelerated graphics card to render to the internal LCD, all of which will have lower performance than when running using an external LCD: NVIDIA Optimus driver provides a transparent internal LCD cloning mode for systems with a 4500MHD/HD/HD3000/HD4000 iGPU primary video when using a NVIDIA GTS4xx/GTX4xx card. Use Lucidlogix virtu drivers to provide transparent output using the internal LCD if you have a Sandy Bridge cpu. (timohour) Ultramon/Chung Gun method can clone from the desktop eGPU's window to the internal LCD for windowed games/apps. USB 3.0 framegrabbers have sufficient bandwidth to capture the image from the desktop eGPU and pipe it back to your notebook's display. It is not feasible to use USB 2.0 framegrabbers. The desktop video card outputs HDMI/S-Video. To try to clone the output from the desktop video card via a USB frame grabber can be done, but consider say 1280x800x32-bit = 4MB per image. If gaming at 30FPS that's 120MB/s bandwidth required. USB 2.0 is 480Mbps (60MB/s in *best case* scenario.. more like 30MB/s in real-life). Ok, sorry but you can use internal screen without Intel HD (see up, first page of this DIY eGPU thread) I don't know well the methods but you could still buy a new laptop with Ivy bridge to benefit from a more powerful CPU and the ability to use 1.2Opt link. Otherwise you can simply buy an external monitor and leave it at your parent's place.
  23. Ben le problème c'est que t'as demandé si tu pouvais utiliser l'écran du portable et pour cela tu as besoin d'un processeur avec l'iGPU INtel HD. Sinon c'est moniteur externe. C'est quoi ton CPU? Le hybride SLI ça serait pas le 9100m g et le 9600m gs? Well the issue is that you asked about internal screen and that's why you need a CPU with iGPU Intel HD. Otherwise you'll need external screen. What's your CPU? Hybrid SLI isn't it 9100m G and 9600M GS?
  24. Hello, I also speak french so I'll do it in that way Je pense qu'il est possible que tu fasses le montage mais pas sur l'écran de ton portable. A moins que t'aies un processeur Ivy/Sandy avec Intel HD graphics, auquel cas ce sera possible. Translation: I think it might be possible but not on internal screen, unless you have Ivy/Sandy CPU with Intel HD Graphics, in which case it would be possible. @phillofoc Thanks dude for your answer, but I ordered a refunded i7 3632QM. I guess it will be a long term investment, but I'll see when it arrives if there is any effective gain.such as some specific lags which are most in Crysis 3 and BF4 (movement lags and wide areas).
