Yea this is definitely a LCD problem, I had the same issue in my R4 about 11 months after I bought it. They replaced it with a new screen and it works great!

Seeing how there is not much of any differenc ebetween the R3 and R4 you should be able to swap it out with a screen model from either revision. Good luck!
