1. Just some tips that worked for me:- it looks like the repair permissions function of KextWizard isnt working perfectly. I still get "repaired .kext ..." with DiskManager - you can check the current boot-args with sudo nvram boot-args - to enable edited .kexts AND the NVidia Webdriver you have to type: sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1 nvda_drv=1" - when i replug my eGPU + pull my USB-Mouse before i boot i always get my eGPU working in OS X 10.10 otherwise only sometimes
2. Mid 2014, so no chance with Iris only model and OS X?
3. Any ideas why im not getting a display output? NVidia drivers are installed and working (loading) System Info looks good Monitor on DVI port but i can't get any display... Macbook Pro Retina Iris only
4. Maybe its a Windows 8.1 problem. Take a look at my W540 guide (http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides/7388-%5Bguide%5D-15-lenovo-w540-r9_290x-gtx780ti%4010gbps-4gbps-sonnet-ee-se2-pe4l-2-1b.html). I had to uninstall my K2100M to get a display output (same situation like yours).
5. http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides/3728-%5Bguide%[email protected] already seen?
6. Worth a try: Download: Kext Wizard - Easy to use Kext Installer and more - New Releases and Updates - InsanelyMac Forum Copy the .kexts on Desktop and edit. Use Kext-Wizard to install and use Maintenance to rebuild kext Cache and repair permissions.
7. Atm the Card is recognized and i get a display but then it just freezes (sometimes after 1sec. sometimes after 20sec.). I dont get a BSOD or anything. I will try some other stuff later and report but i dont think i can get it working. EDIT: Sorry, no chance. Maybe a driver problem.
8. My friend has a R9 290X and i get it to test on monday. I will post results. Maybe WoW is working now with the new released Catalyst driver.
9. Just compare this: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/4674-%5Bguide%5D-15-lenovo-w530-hd7950%40x1-2-pe4l-2-1b.html#post65364 (same GPU and Expresscard like your eGPU) with your own result: AMD Radeon HD 7950 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-3230M Processor,LENOVO INVALID Nearly same results but your CPU is slower (i7-3740QM vs i5-3230M)
10. Yes, its working. I already added the steps in my Guide (maybe you can add it to the headline). I sold my R9 290X (wasnt able to play WoW with low settings, but its a WoW problem) and also sold my 780Ti OC version from Gainward (some strange noise when gaming). At the moment im using a 780Ti from EVGA (no OC or anything). The problem with the Benchmarks is Windows 8.1. With my PE4L i was always getting lower scores (W8.1), but i will try Firestrike later and report.
11. a DESKTOP i7 AND 2 GPUs ... Like i said its a Notebook-CPU vs. Desktop-CPU + 2 GPUs vs. 1 GPU + the bottleneck of the bandwith i think 19408 is a good score for this.
12. It should be nearly plug and play. Maybe error 12 or something but it should be recognized by the Device-Manager. Thunderboltdrivers are installed? Maybe another Thunderbolt device to test? PS: You dont need an UEFI-installation.
13. Set it to Gen1 and try it again with the PE4L 1.5
14. Uses Gen1. Have you set Gen1 Expresscard-Speed in BIOS?
15. Same with my 750Ti, but with VSync on everything is fine.
16. Is it also possible as x4.2Opt with Thunderbolt?
17. Yup, tried it with my W540 and W530 and both just got BSODs. DSDT with 0errors and 0warnings. Different compilers, Editors and so on.... I dont think its possible with any of the "better" models (saw 1 success with an L420 but its a total different DSDT).
18. Its a ThinkPad W540 and a Gainward 780Ti Phantom. Maybe its a driver problem since i cant install my dGPU drivers or my eGPU shows no display.
