  1. Oh I see. My friends have the same proble in AW17 with 980m. Can you confirm the steps to fix the problem? 1. install precision X -> K-boost on 2. nvdia inspector -> P1 states -> chage clock to stock this is it right?
  2. Well your saying looks like, you have to OC to match up the normal performance. Am I right?
  3. Nice solution. Does it work as 1038 / 2500 too? or do yo have to OC the clock to 1200?
  4. As I said, in new AW17 and AW18, the graphic score will be deducted 3-5% and clock fluctuates.
  5. @Cloudfire I actually had tested AW17 for intensive OCing CPU for about a month. The stock CPU was 4900mq and I had decent bench score with it. XTU overclocking records @ HWBOT I was curious how mx cpu will do on my AW17 (which I dont have now). That's why I bought two CPU from ebay. 4930 and 4940mx. I tested both CPU for alot of hours. And the best silicone quality was found on 4940mx. The second was my stock 4900mq and the worst one in my case was 4930mx.
  6. I beleive that was story in the old days. Now I think silicon quality depends on the "time" it is made. Of course, there may be an exeption but usually it depends on time. That's why I believe haswell refresh has better quality than haswell. I think 4910mq has better silicone quality than 4930mx.
  7. No. It just depends on the CPU itself. Not the name of it. I have tested more than five 3940XMs and they all behaved very differently. So this means well OCed 4900mq @ 4.2 could be better than poorly OCed 4930 or 4940mx @ 4.2. And 4900mq can even run the clock at lower voltage. It is your luck to get a lucky cpu.
  8. Hello hyung nim. I think if you have done the same thing ie. increase voltage in windows 7, you'd have gotten better physics.
  9. Yeah I agree. Moreover, there is no other choice for us. Stick with win7 and 780m/880m or just deal with win8 and 980m. Anywas, from @svl7's screenshot of 970m which I believe was shot from windows 7, it might be possible to post in legacy for 970m. Not sure though. Look at the screenshot. It looks like win 7. And if he is testing 970m in m15x (which I believe doesn't have UEFI), windows 7 with 970m sli can be an alternative solution.
  10. I was talking to Castiel. But you got the point. If optimus is enabled 980m can be run with win7. But who would want to
  11. We have just succeeded getting 980m working on alienware. It's not even been a week since we found the solution. So for now, you are right. You have to say good bye to either 980m or windows 7. For future, I hope svl7 can make a change.
  12. But m17x R3 got certification upto 580m (not 680m or newer). m17x R4 got certification upto 680m (not older and newer)
  13. Even when dell has provided 780m and 880m in their laptop, m17x R4 was not certified for 3D vision. This is why I dont think they will do so.
  14. For alienware, 3D doens't work in UEFI in win8 with 980m. --> Oops I am sorry. I think it works. Someone has posted 3D in NBR.
  15. It can only run 980m in legacy with optimus. (iGPU) Without optimus function, AW17 without 3D needs UEFI too.
  16. Great. I must add this. AW17 non-3D can't run win7 in UEFI too.
  17. @svl7 One thing I have to tell you. Gtx 980m's clock fluctuate on AW17 alot, but not in m18x R2 or clevo. This causes alot of graphic score deduction in AW17. And if you want me to test anything for you in m18x R2, please let me know.
  18. Thank god, finally "SOMEONE" got the card! Very happy to hear that. One question for you svl7, how did you manage to post 970m in m15x? Does m15x support UEFI without legacy rom or 970m works differently?
  19. Yeah, he got the point. Turn off your battery boost. I am using SLI so I dont have that function. But you do I think.
  20. Anyone knows how windows 2012 r2 would do on m18x r2?
  21. I ran world of warcraft, diablo III, league of legends without any problem. I think your driver is messed up. Why dont you try reinstalling windows. I've had a similar problem and I fixed it with reinstalling windows and everything. - - - Updated - - - Yup, you are right. Clevo works well with legacy windows7. p170 and p150 has optimus, so it must work with legacy. p375 has a bios that works as UEFI (even it's legacy enabled) and this will allow 980m to post. But alienware can't
  22. IGP runs win7 UEFI. But not 680m sli. Can you recheck please? After the success of installing 980m in alienware, my folks in Korean alienware forum are trying to run win7 UEFI. But no one succeeded. I really want to know or see win7 UEFI without legacy rom support with NVIDIA (not IGP).
