  1. now it started not working well again. will send you gpu-z log.
  2. It started to work. I will after it becomes "not working" I am sure it will not tomorrow. It has been that way. - - - Updated - - - I heard from prema that v12 works for sli.
  3. This 980m is a bastard. I changed vbios from v10 to v12 just to see how v12 works again(I've tried it already before). Now it works. I know it will throttle tomorrow haha
  4. I dont think this is driver. Because if it is driver problem, why did it work yesterday and not today? It is something about board. Too much high-pitch abnormal sound is heard when 980m runs at normal clock. This is very strange. All three 980m that I tested had this high pitch sound. (I dont know how you guys call this. this sound can be heard sometimes in PSU)
  5. I am testing this single. I have tested SLI too. Same issue. I dont think 980m works well in alienware now. I am one of the person who have tested 980m for the longest time on alienware. Now I am thinking that 980m should not be used in alienware if you dont want to waste your money.
  6. Yeah as I told you. It is random. Sometime it works, sometime it doens't.
  7. Yeah I did disable IGP and set PEG. I didn't use any nvdmi.inf mod. Just download 344.80 and copied the nv_dispi.inf to the nvidia display.driver folder. "Dell driver" that I meant was all the other drivers (not including intel graphics or dell OEM nvidia).
  8. @J95 @mikecacho Throttle again. 1. vbios changed to v10 2. UEFI without legacy rom, secure/fast boot disabled 3. windows 8.1 fresh installation 4. Dell driver installation 5. 344.80 with inf mod. -> again throttles. FPS drops to half. I tried to release all the CPU OC. -> no change of GPU throttle. Damn
  9. @mikecacho Thank you. I am back home from work. Gonna try J95's inf mod.
  10. Mikecacho, one more thing to ask. Have you updated windows 8.1?
  11. I see. Why is your mod inf for sli still nvdmi.inf? Any specific reason for that bro? - - - Updated - - - No I dont think it will matter.
  12. Good. Could you please run 3dmark11 (graphic test 1 is enough) everyday for a few day? For me, right after nvidia installation, no throttle. But after 1-2 days, throttle again.
  13. Yeah I thought so. You are talking about "boost" going up and down. That's meant to work that way. That's not anything wrong. It is normal in mobile GPU with stock vbios. I am talking about throttle that really goes down. Johnksss and I have experienced the same thing. No clue yet. But I guess 980m in alienware want to go idle state even when GPU load is high.
  14. I partially agree. But this 980m throttle of alienware is not a throttle to 700~800 clock. It throttles down really low to nearly 400. The FPS becomes half of what it should be. This kind of throttle dont happen in clevo.
  15. @J95 so for 980m single, nv_dispi.inf_v344.80(2)_AW_GTX_980M.zip this is the right file right? I will try this tonight. My last resort is to try your mod inf and v10 vbios.
  16. Yeah as I told you, this 980m dont throttle always, but "randomly". It is good yesterday, bad today. That's why I was asking you how many days you have been tested that on m17x R4. Not blaming you anything. Just telling you the truth. I have made 980m and 980m sli work perfectly in m18x R2 but suddenly they dont like to work that way. The only way to make throttling 980m work again is to install nvidia driver (with mod inf) again. This way alienware will work for a few hours or a few day. But suddenly it will throttle again. This is what had happened to me for nearly past 1 months.
  17. Could you tell me the vbioa version of your 980m? And for how many days have you tested? For me it works great when I install drivers. But then it throttles down after 1~2 days.
  18. What happened if you dont update windows but OC CPU to more than that extent?
  19. My friend with 980m sli on p375sm (win7) is not experiencing ANY throttling. Could you check how 980m sli works on win7 when you have time?
  20. Are you experiencing 980m sli throttling on both win 7 and win8.1 or just win 8.1?
  21. Thanks so much @J95. I will definitely try this. BTW, for 780m sli, which driver do you recommend? And you mod inf are for all alienware right, including m17x R4, m18x R2? No SLI and Single separate inf this time?
  22. If you have non-3D AW17, allowing optimus and boot into legacy win8. THen you can flash the card.
