  1. Just for the info, the last firmware for Windows 7 versions (2.07) may trigger a bug where the notebook won't return from suspend (like described here: Y580 Windows 7 won't come out of Sleep FIXED SOLVE... - Lenovo Community). The problem is reported on Windows 7 but I can confirm it happens on Windows 8 and Linux too.

Like said on that thread, you can fix it returning your BIOS to verion 2.06.

But if I'm already with 8.01 can I go back to 2.06?

  2. Hi there.... I have my brand new Y580 i7, 1Tb hd with preinstalled Win8 [i think it´s home version] right now with unlocked Bios 8.01 thnks to the Master svl7, with an Crucial M4 Msata 256Gb SSd for the Os [actually Win 7 ultimate] and the Hd for storage.

My steps was 1st of all update Bios (nice and easy, great tools and easy tutorial from slv7 !!Thnks Again!!) if you planned in somehow to update the bios, do it previously a fresh installation of the Operating system cos sometimes you got Bsod´s after the bios get updated specially when the Os belongs to the SSd, I want to change my WirelessCard in a few weeks.

Then I took out the Hd of the laptop only leaving the SSd and made a fresh install of the windows 7, you need to change in Bios the boot from uefi (win8) to Legacy (other os), as usually.

I inserted my hd in the y580 and the Get rided of my shitty partitions of the Hd, and that´s all.

Mate can you check in your bios what is listed?

    Here is mine:

What model SSD are you using? Do you know for sure that it was working beforehand?

    Hi mate,

    Mine is stock Sandisk 16G:

    SanDisk® U100 SSD (mSATA) - SDSA5DK-064G - SDSA5DK,64GB,SATA,Mtr-6,4X2D64MA02TSOP,4

And yes it was working before. At least it was listed in device manager.

  3. Hi guys,

As in the other thread said I deleted all partitions on my HDD and SSD.

After that only one unallocated space appeared.

Also the SSD disappeared from the BIOS.

Today I decided to removed the SSD.

After this I was surprised that m Win8 starts for 15sec w/o it.

I putted SSD back and win started again for more then 2min.

Any idea what is wrong? And why it just disappeared from everywhere?

    Thx!

  4. let me know if u need it, cos I can leave the computer On where I have the torrent and seed for you?, this computer only works for a few hours in a day so if you are in a hurry it will takes so long to reach the goal.

    Thank you mate!

    I've downladed and Installed

But for some reason only clean install work.

Maybe cause after repartition my SSD disappeared from the BIOS.

Will make new thread about this issue.

How can I make a backup of mine--I've been there before, so I know your pain. Let me know and maybe I can help once I figure out how to back mine up--maybe I should boot using a Ubuntu Live USB drive? What's on the hidden partition?

    Thx mate

You can use this free program:

Get the paid version of EaseUS Partition Master at discount. Magic Partition Manager Freeware for PC/Server users. Upgrade EaseUS Partition Master Free

But I just finnished clean install and probably will stay will it.

  5. Hi guys,

After I resized my primary partition my win8 couldnt boot anymore. OKR couldnt help either so I just delete all partitions and installed win7.

All went ok but unfortunately now I have "wakeup problem" (you can check my other thread).

So can anyone make an image of the hidden OKR partition and upload it somewhere for me?

    It will be really glad!

    thx in advance!

    Ross

  6. Hi,

I have problem with my y580.

Recently i downgrade to win7 and now I have problem with wake up.

Not every time but random after the screen turn off it doesnt on.

To make it on I must push power button and wait to asleep.

After that pushing the button again will turn it.

Do you now some solution of it?

    thx!
