  1. Hello everybody; I Have a Lenovo Y400 650m SLI with modded bios 2.04 from svl7. Everthing was working fine until I update to the new nvidia driver (from 332.21 to 334.89). First, the second 650m was not detected (it appeared in device manager but it wont work). I solved this by applying the Y400Y500_GT650M_2ndVGA_update V3 bios from lenovo. The second card was available then, but was locked (no OC beyond the 135 mhz limit) so i flashed again the second 650m to allow OC past 135 mhz again, but once i did that the second videocard wasnt working again. I ended up restoring the system to a previous point (to nvidia driver 332.21) and everything is working just fine. Any one else tried the nvidia driver 334.89? Did you had any problems with the 650m SLI configuration and the modded bios 2.04? Thank you in advance for the comments and best regards!

    I bet u using windows 8.1.

In win 8.1 u must update the 2nd card bios to work properly, and if u need oc the 2nd card u must search updated and unlocked oc bios for the ultrabay card.

Someone in this thread posted a bios.

  2. in MSI Afterburner increases the frequency of the core 350mhz, memory clock +600mhz, when applying the load on the GPU (aida64) observe differences in the frequency of the core (1139mhz integrated and 1186mhz Ultrabay) in consequence of which the laptop starts to freezing, on the previous firmware this was not observed

    I flashed this bios too.

In this bios the ultrabay VGA has a different max clock then the integrated.

integrated Max 790Mhz boost 835Mhz, Ulrabay max 836, boost 836.

So when u overlock u need 46Mhz less in ultrabay card to get the same overlock speed in both card....

    For example:

U like to overclock booth card core spped to 1000Mhz in Nvidia inspector u need set card 0 +210Mhz, card 1 +164Mhz.

    PS:

I think wee need pm KLEM to change the 650M vbios core clock to default state...

  3. We got answer from lenovo, in official forum:

    All,

I appreciate the frustration, and I know you have been working on this since September. That said, we couldn't escalate issues to engineering until Windows 8.1 became official. We passed that gate on the 17th, so it is fair game now.

I saw your tweets, and also note that this thread has gone from 1 to 8 pages, driven by some very motivated folks. Please keep in mind that the forum is primarily peer to peer, and as you scan other boards, there are plenty of threads demanding Lenovo attention, so you aren't being deliberately ignored .

I acknowledge your concerns and we'll try to help you get this solved. It may be that development teams already know about this - I'll need to look into it to see what is already in progress. We can open a new case based on this discussion.

I think one of the recent comments urging a recap of the situation is helpful.

We need to focus on how the Lenovo provided drivers don't work, and the symptoms - the 2nd card isn't recognized at all, doesn't work in games, produces blurry graphics etc. If you want to reference Nvidia OEM versions, that's great, but we can't focus the case on them since we support our versions.

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Mark

  4. Hello, new here, but i couldnt help but notice that everyone is having issues with windows 8.1 and SLI configuration. I would like to start of saying that this is NOT a "oh, SLI works with mine, I don't know why you all are having problems" kind of post. I merely wish to post my system information and any other information anyone would request that could assist in possibly finding a fix for the SLI issues, whether or not SLI is actually working, and why my experience has been different from everyone elses. I also apologize for my poor formatting.

Also, cool info is that the 750m's here are the rarer gddr5 versions, making them significantly faster than the ddr3 versions. Good job lenovo.

Here is a screenshot of the device manager, gpu-z for each gpu, and SLI status. The only thing different between the internal and external GPU are the bios versions.

Things are blurry because windows fails with >96ppi displays (come on microsoft).

Please reply with any questions or comments.

What is the driver version in your machine?

Because when i installed 320.49 then i can enable sli and work in 2d but after when i start a game it crash only restart works...

  5. Hello Guys.

I have the Lenovo Y500 with Windows 8. I just want to ask if you rate me to download windows 8.1 or not.

    Thanks for help

    noesges

If u wish run new games with SLI then dont update....

  6. So I upgraded to windows 8.1 today, bad idea. SLI doesn't work anymore with new drivers. It also seems like I am not the only one having this problem with Lenovo Y510p/Y500 machines. See here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/608174/sli/windows-8-1-no-sli/ Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this problem from 8 to 8.1? They are basically the same os with some extra's thrown in, right? The cards are doing really weird stuff in device manager every boot / driver re-install as well. From code 43 on the second graphics card to both not showing up at all. Have tried re installing the driver many times to no success. (If people really want to discuss this heavily I will start a new thread to avoid clogging this one.)

There is already a thread: http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/4820-svl7-we-need-you-windows-8-1-a.html

  7. I am experiencing the same issue with Windows 8.1 64-bit. I just updated my OS today and installed the latest drivers from Nvidia for the 650m SLI (327.23), the second card is visible but not functional. "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" is what the Device Manager displays for the ultrabay GPU. I did read somewhere as well that the vbios for the second GPU is not being updated with the first.

I think this is not a vbios problem....

  8. I hope so too.

He is hopefully correct, there is no logical reason why you shouldn't release drivers to a Windows 8-branded laptop.

8.1 is such an improvement over 8 so I reaally want them to land soon :)

Lenovo answer today "http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/nvga138w8164.exe" this put up 307.64 driver on win 8.1 and its work!!!

I hope this is not the only solution because we dont have support for newer games....

  9. Well last night i installed windows 8 instead of windows 8.1, install med nvidia beta drivers along with the lenovo drivers, on time the computer crashed during restart but it didn't loose the sli settings. So i think we need to wait for the full version of 8.1 and not the rtm, then driver issues should have resolved themself by that time.
  10. Yesterday I updated my Bios to version 2.02 and I find that my both gpu's cloak speed is stuck to 135 mhz on AC and doesn't seem to go to the default speed of 790. I also tried nvidia inspector to boost it up in hope to fix it but it didn't work. Also I tried making a clean install of the drivers and nothing changed. Any ideas how I can fix this and use my laptop normally?

I found where the problem comes - the lenovo energy management program. If i use maximum battery life (I use windows 7 for that matter) it's okay, but if use optimized battery health, seems to be stuck only to 135 Mhz. How I revert back to bios 1.05 version?

When you use optimized battery in leonovo energy management, then the system starting discharge your battery and after the battery reach 60% ur GPUs go up full speed.

This is because the battery dosent have enough power for SLI at full speed.

  11. I wouldn't be so sure about that. I've been trying to find out from 750M owners exactly which GPU core it is using but so far no luck because the information has not been released yet. The latest version of GPU-Z, for instance, has all those categories grayed out.

When AnandTech announced the GeForce 700M series, the chip shot provided to them by Nvidia actually showed the GT 750M to be using a crippled GK106 core. They also mentioned that GK107 and GK208 were also possibilities. Take it with a grain of salt of course but AnandTech has a lot of industry tie-ins and insider access to these major tech companies so their pre-release information is usually more accurate than some of the more gossip-oriented sites.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M - NotebookCheck.net Tech vs NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M - NotebookCheck.net Tech Kepler core both.

(Nvidia earlier used same chip in some product just rename it and voila new VGA)

  12. anyone else experiencing similiar problems?...

prior to the modded 2.02 bios flash. i was stable with 970/2400 clock on my single gt 650m. using the modded 1.05 bios and forcing the overclock on p5 state. after flashing to the 2.02 modded bios the same overclock i was using is no longer stable. and my games are crashing and the gpu kicks into idle state.

Try it in P0 state (as i know in p0 the GPU get a little bit more volt).

  13. @gnan10 The overclocking SLI is just an addition for the SLI users, the modded bios gives you access to overclock your single GPU (or GPU 0, main or whatever we want to call it)

to my problem: is there a possibility that my ultrabay GPU is at 0 instead of 1, this is the only thing I can think of, why else would the flash don´t work ?

Is it safe to just try it ?

My ultrabay gpu is 1, as all others y500, why do u think ur y500 is different?

  14. YYEEEESSSSSSS!!! You guys are freakin' geniuses.

    7FWpsiT.png

Here's how I got it to work:

    Use DOS version of NVflash.

Follow svl7's guide to but make sure you first turn off write protection with nvflash -r for the Ultrabay GPU which is index <1>.

Then flash ONLY the Ultrabay GPU (remember it is GPU 1).

Press y twice to confirm and wait until it reports that it has flashed successfully.

    CTR+ALT+DEL to restart and PROFIT.

I see u use 306 driver, 310.9 or older driver u don't need modding the bios!
