  1. Yeah, you can't really expect full driver support... (Hello captain obvious... ;))

The best way to test this Win8 version is probably making a separate 30GB partition or similar, then you can easily delete it after seeing how crappy it is, lol.

Haha well that's what I tried to do but i the partition was taking WAYYYYYYY to long. I stopped it after a day and a half and decided to wing it after seeing success from m11x r3 users who even had graphics switching working. My graphics card didn't even show up so I don't know. I am going to stay away from windows 8 anyway. I hate the new metro ui with a passion. Not user friendly at alll

  2. Downloaded it but didn't had the time to test it. How is the driver support? And how did you install it? Clean install or updated (if this is even possible)?

Driver support sucks. My graphics aren't working, wifi isn't working. I did the upgrade option. I regret installing this. I am going to have to do a clean wipe to get rid of it. Goodbye files.

  3. The nice thing about ThrottleStop is that you can Disable Turbo within the program itself so you don't have to do this in the bios to control heat. There is no need to reboot and change settings depending on what game you feel like playing.

The Acer 3830TG owners are also using the ThrottleStop Alarm feature. They setup 2 separate profiles; one with Turbo Boost enabled and the second profile has Turbo Boost disabled. Based on CPU or GPU core temperature, ThrottleStop can switch profiles back and forth to better balance heat, power consumption and performance.

I posted an exact quote from the Intel Datasheet on the previous page. The thermal shutdown temperature for all Intel CPUs since the Core 2 era has always been in the 125C to 130C range. They don't recommend running your CPU this hot but they also don't recommend doing a thermal shutdown at 100C. There is no need to do that. Intel thermal throttling is very well designed and can fully manage a CPU that is running hot. No need to turn a laptop off at 100C unless a manufacturer is trying to hide some other weak link in their design. Intel CPUs are very robust.

That is why I always make sure I get an intel CPU. Amd just doesn't feel like it has the same quality. Just my opinion though.

  4. can someone give me a screenshot of throttlestopper with the settings that will stop throttling on gta 4? I just got this game and would love to play it at a frame rate higher then 4. I understand that this game is coded horribly. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  5. Great update, thanks Steven! I guess the'll still come up with quite some changes between this alpha and the final version... It looks nice but it's nowhere as great as it should be (if you look at all the hype) Just my opinion...

Yeah I agree. I does look worse than bbc2. It is in alpha though.

  6. Out of curiosity what do you do with all these computers? :D

I like the specs of this Sager, especially the screen. Once you get it, could you comment on build quality, construction, etc. etc. ? :)

    Thanks

The 95% gamut screen is beautiful no other word for it. construction and build quality are very solid. And of course performance is amazing for a laptop of this size. The only thing that is iffy is the track pad. And the lack of a backlit keyboard is unfortunate.

  7. System will be here Wednesday. However I also ordered an HP DV6z. Based on price alone I may keep the HP over the Sager. So far it's over $500 cheaper, and the AMD CPU and GPU seem to be crazy overclockers. The HP should be here probably middle of the following week, so I can do a side by side comparison. My biggest concern with the HP is the screen, but apparently it's a new LG screen that is pretty nice.

Oh awesome tell us when it Gets here! I actually find myself not gaming much but doing 3d design for games and programming. So I might return this and go for the lenovo x1.
