Suggestion on a build

Recommended Posts

Hello, this is going to be my first build in about 10 years so I have no idea if this is going to work. If you could give me some suggestion it would be great! I'll not be overlocking my cpu, so I went for a fan cooler. I know I'll love the case but other things I'm flexible with changing. This desktop will be running windows 8.1 pro(I know, but I just love how windows 8 works) and Ubuntu 14.04LTS. It'll be used primarily for computing as well as casual gaming(CS:GO). As this thing will be in my bed room I want it to be moderately quiet. Other than that I don't really have any requests.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core Desktop Processor (3.5 GHz, 8 MB Cache, Intel HD graphics, BX80646I74770K) $299

MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO DDR3 2800 LGA 1150 Motherboard socket for 4th Generation Intel Core i7/ i5/ i3/ Pentium / Celeron Processors $199.99

CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) $32

Power: Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS (CX600) $65.60

GPU:

MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 OC 2GB GDDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card N760 TF 2GD5/OC $259.99

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10) $155.5

HDD: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache - WD10EZEX $59.99

(I'll be using a samsung 840PRO 256GB as my primary drive, WD only supplies as storage)

DVD: Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black) $22.50

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Cases, Black Pearl (FD-CA-DEF-R4-BL) $93+$15shipping

Total about $1215

Thanks!

I think this a great build for the price and also CS:GO doesn't requires a great computer. I am able to play it on max settings at 200+ fps on my y510p.

Sounds like a great build. I don't see any issues with any of those parts. And with specs like that you should have no problems running any games or other software. I recently purchased a fractal design node 605 case and I love it. Fractal design makes some beautiful cases, and also very functional. My case has a felt-like material on the inside of the door that is used to dampen the sound of the fans.
