IcantmakeUsernames
So I'm thinking of upgrading my alienware m15x but im not sure which option is better, to use an e-gpu or get something like an amd 8970m. Is it worth waiting for the new amd graphics cards for an e-GPU setup or is it not worth it?
cured
e-GPU for better performance, but lost mobility. Also, the e-GPU video card is easy to replace. It's still up to you!
Khenglish
The m15x cannot do optimus and I highly doubt it can do x2. The ports are also running at the PCI-E 1.1 2.5gts rate. Getting a new dedicated is the best option. Unfortunately dedicated cards are very expensive. The 7970m and 8970m while cost effective, draw too much power for the laptop to handle when overclocked. I'd go with a 675mx or a 680m. The 780m is a possibility but that has power draw issues when overclocked as well, so it's not really worth the extra cost. Joseps
sorry, this was intended for the 6690/6670 thread. There's a copy in place so please delete
wishmakerw
I think 7870M will be better - fast and cooler, low power drain (35w)
