theunknownknows
Hello everyone, I recently got gifted a M17xr3 with a bad gtx 580m I am running win10 and I have already the A12 bios. I tryed reballing the 580m but it didn`t hold so I bought a 680m for it. Since I need the unlocked version to install my 680m, how do I know if the A12 bios I have is the unlocked or the locked one? Thanks

MattyB
What would you like to know? You can get the unlocked BIOS from here for free once you make enough posts. The Unlocked BIOS is required to switch the video mode and to turn off the HD Audio when installing a new card.

MattyB
In the BIOS you will see two different ADVANCED tabs. The second tab allows you to change the video mode. The OEM BIOS only has one ADVANCED tab.

MattyB
No problemo. You can also try out the forum at NotebookReview for more help on these older machines.
