jimaiwr
Hi guys, first time poster so I apologize in advance if I get anything wrong.I've recently built a Dual Xeon workstation using a supermicro X8DTU board, running two Xeon x5670's at 2.93GHz.When I purchased the board I thought I could overclock using bios but was devastated when I couldn't.So as usual I scoured google for days and came to the conclusion that since there were no Bios mods,I had to use setFSB. Found my PLL and it was supported - I thought everything was gonna be great then on, but little did I know (if i am correct) without more voltage to the cpu, setFSB results were a measy 20 mhz more before my computer said NOPE and froze What am I doing wrong? Can someone point me in the right direction? Also, can soldering the PLL work? Thanks Jim
Khenglish
20MHz total sounds like you're locking up due to not setting a divider, or overclocking SATA. Lack of voltage will not cause a hard ceiling like that. What is the PLL?
