nesha
MSI GT680R w/ MSI GTX 460m RESTARTS durring HEAVY GPU LOADLaptop works normally on battery and on AC-ADAPTER(I bought second in case, original is 150w, new one is 180w).However, during games like DOTA 2, laptop restarts after 5-10 sometimes more minutes.Restart is normal without BSOD, like RESET button. To mention, TEMP are fine 35 CPU GPU on iddle, 65 Celsius on heavy load MAX. Without GPU TURBO and INTEL TURBO BOOST.Intervention made so far in service:- on motherboard: replacement of entrance capacitors A04407 and SI4800B.- on GPU few other capacitors with recommendation to buy another GPU if problem is not resolved. Before I consider to buy another GPU(I dont have enough money for 770m and I don't wanna buy the same one 4-5 years old),should I try to modify my original VBIOS w/ higher voltage from 0.95 to 1v, or to lower from 0.95v to 0.925v. Or should I try w/ different fermi clocks in Nibitor.I didn't find any MODDED VBIOS for MSI GTX 460m only for ASUS in this posts. Probably is hidden somewhere. However, here you are my original MSI GTX 460m 1.5 GB BIOS (GF 106) so if you like to help w/ advice I will much appreciate.Cant upload for some reason so here you are on: http://www.filedropper.com/gf106
nesha
UPDATE:I changed resolution in game from 1920x1080 to 13xx x 768.I changed all options in game for textures and shadows on low.I turned off all options for efect in game except water.I changed in NVIDIA settings to performance. Then texture filtering from quality to performance. Anisotropic to app controlledTo remind, restarts before, happens already after few minutes in game. Now, no restarts already couple of hours.GPU turbo and INTEL TURBO BOOST I turned off so tomorrow I will try with those ON.Now system is stable w/ 60 degrees CPU and 50 degrees GPU and w/ 60 FPS in game, constant.Looking for other options too, please join discussion if you had any similar problems before. nesha
UPDATE:1366x768 instead of native 1920x1080 seems temporary solved problem, still no restarts. In random browsers watching streams on twitch via adobe flash, on source 1920x1080 res, seems stable, however only one restart of system occurred in one week, so lets say problem with restarts is also there but very rare.I updated EC NB Firmware from 4.23 to 4.24.Bios is last modded v3.0z, will try back original 3.0z after few days of testing. nesha
UPDATE:- Xonar's BIOS modded v3.0z I didn't change. Bios is great and working, ty Xonar.I noticed, that during higher GPU load, my GPU voltage varying between 0.95 and 1v. Even when I under clock GPU.After a series of different testings I made up solution. To jump everything, tnx to RMA, motherboard is fixed and how they suspected if is any other issues I need GPU replacement. However, I made up with this combination.1. I underclock GTX 460m GPU stock CLOCK - 10%2. GPU memory I left the same as stock3. I changed GPU voltage from unstable (0.95-1V) to 0.925For now, I locked FPS in windows at 60, then 120. Resolution for games 1440x900. Options low, med.SYSTEM is stable, FPS stable, no restarts already 72 hours. Temperature full load GPU 45-55 degrees C.+ I installed WIndows 10 on it, everything is so smooth now.Well, lets say, final guess is that some VOLTAGE regulator or sensor on GPU caused all the mess, and that diff voltage made system more stable during load. How I'm not an electrician, this is a NO cost solution, and lets hope that this steps will give hope some other graphic card users before they drop GPU to trash can.I'll test my system in next two weeks and if is it stable like now, I will announce my issue as solved.
