W230ST PCH cooling

I bought a w230st and found that aida64 show my PCH usual working at 80 degrees Celsius.

What about yours?

Any solutions?

80 Celsius is too hot I would think tpoy.

Are you experiencing shutdowns?

Does it feel like its getting that hot from outside the system?

Since I'm not familiar with this particular model, my process would be roughly as follows. Granted I work on laptops and desktops every day and sometimes

the more obvious solutions and answers come to me later rather than sooner, I find this relates somehow to how much coffee / sleep I've had.

There's a lot of things you could do to diagnose / confirm / resolve the issue but it depends on the how how confident you are with laptop hardware.

First check your power supply, confirm that your DC voltage matches the DC output and that the DC output matches the little label on the underside of the laptop.

Check to make sure your system is not overclocked in any way in the BIOS, minor voltage changes will drastically change the output heat of your chipset.

If it really feels hot I would tear that thing down, remove the HDD, depending upon the configuration of which way the

board faces etc, prop it up on it's side, boot into BIOS, and test the larger chips with the best temperature sensor around, my finger. You wanna check the heatsink, which

probably connects the PCH and CPU. If the heatsink is way too hot to the touch then there is definitely something wrong.

If the themal paste or pads are there and are still gooey and the heatsink seems totally secure then maybe someone else can chime in with some instruction. I'd be leaning

towards a motherboard problem.
