Problem on Clevo P177sm and Gtx770m - Reduce memory of VGA

Recommended Posts

Dear,

First of all, sorry for my English. He is very poor and I am using the goolge translator.

I have a Clevo P177sm with a GTX 770m. Since Friday it has been presenting artifacts in games and since yesterday the vast majority of 3d games automatically lock when trying to open. Lighter games open with artifacts.

I am looking to buy another vga in Aliexpress, but since I live in Brazil it will take around 60 to 90 days to receive (federal revenue here does not make it easier).

Now we go to the orders.

Apparently the problem in my vga is memory (she was overclocked in the memories). Is there a test where I can check which memory is faulty? Is there any way, either through BIOS to reduce the amount of memory available to the board, if the memory defect is actually identified?

Another doubt. I'm thinking of getting a Gtx780m because that I'm sure will work because there was a version of it sold here with this vga? The Gtx880m I'm not sure if it would work without updating the bios and the Gtx980m, besides being very expensive, it has to update the bios and I'm afraid to do this procedure.

Is the performance difference of 980m versus 780m / 880m so great? For in price it is almost double. Also, does the vga have to be Clevo or can it be MSI?

Sorry for the monologue, it's that I'm full of doubts and I believe they can help me.

Thank you very much in advance.
