  1. Yaeh the P570WMx was a huge amount of work, took me like two weeks to get it straightened out, CPU Turbo didn't work on Xenom CPUs, Overclock didn't work on others, all RAM was limited to 1600Mhz or even 1333Mhz in some cases, the PCIe speed was throttled to 1.1x and the list goes on and on...the extra BIOS Options are just a cherry on the cake. ;)

    Man, you're not kidding!!

  2. Here is Prema's latest P570WMx bios, I'm at 4.2ghz and have an OC memory of 2133mhz, from 1600mhz!!!

Tiimings at 1600 are 9,9,9,27 and in the pic at 2133 they're set at 11,11,11,32, but not entirely stable. After 2 hours it blue screened, but man it was nice, firefox loading faster, games on ssd loading faster, things just zippier in general. Thank you Prema!

I,m now trying timings at 11,11,11,34 to see if this helps

Wanna buy faster memory now, I blame Prema

  3. never used afterburnerafterburner Precision.I still not dare to overclock anything..I always had Watercooled machines,so now all this temps of 80+ are a bit scary to me.plus a CPU or a GPU for this laptop costs an arm and a leg,not sure it's worth the risk.

anyway,I had ordered a Kingston Ram Kit ,KHX1866C11S3P1K2/8G ,will see how it goes .

    Thanks.

Heard precision was made by same guy who made afterburner. Try starting the game without those programs running, hopefully it'll run

  4. I'm glad to see more converts! People really shouldn't be so scared of the stuff, yes its metal and can short your system if you're not careful, blah, blah. Just be careful. I use it for everything

Coollaboratory just need to make a third generation one that had a slightly thicker consistency, that'd work even better I think, it is a bit on the too thin side

  5. Its not the easiest thing to apply in the world tbh, takes patience. Yeah I researched hard B4 applying to gpu but it works great. Brush is slower but deffo better than ear buds, some cotton material could easily come off the buds into the metal.

Thin layer on both heat sink and gpu/CPU works best, thin enough so there's no pool of metal but not too thin, as its very liquidy. I've put too much before where it pooled but it never escapes and drips out so don't worry. A lot of people are very scared of it, understandable, u do need to be careful with it.

I've used it a lot on desk tops and lappys and love it. Pro dries out over time but ultra stays liquid. It does pain your surfaces though, especially copper and it'll need serious buffing to remove its very very thin residue for all of it to come off

  6. No proper vid control yet, but its much better as Premas pic of my hwinfo shows. Heat is practically the same, how clevo ballsed this one up I don't know

If u lower cpu vcore, your clocks just wont go up. The 1.225v at 4ghz on my RE4 extreme with same cpu just aint possible yet on clevos bios, you'll get maybe 3.6ghz at 1.2v+ even though 4.2ghz is set in bios

  7. Clevorr, Prema, you guys are making me it hard for me to concentrate on work!!

After weeks of coming to accept this machines cpu limitations I'm so excited now! Thanks Prema!! Aren't those 4.2ghz figures lovely in your pics Prema?!

Clevorr yes I do oc the cpu via xtu but as you say, it is crap. Constant error messages like you get with settings not applying after reboot!!

Terrible, the secret is enabling Turbo Runtime Override, (If) that setting sticks and doesn't reset

and then you have to increase to cpu voltage by upping Core Current Limit, Which just overheats the cpu!

Then you have to select High Performance power setting as Balanced will just keep the cpu at 3.2ghz!! I want max power at Balanced setting, dont want my cpu rammed up the the max while doing nothing.

Upon restarting a couple of times say goodbye to your settings as they magically rest themselves!

Clevos dayamn bios can only oc if voltage is rammed up, even though as we all know our 3930k's can oc to silly over 4ghz with stock voltages, it saddens me, but the test bios has taught clevos bios makers a lesson. This model was delayed due to heating issues apparently but here I am with a good oc and no heat issues regarding cpu and especially gpu.

  8. Yes but I can see why clevo did it, they're not confident enough with the cooling for the CPU. Tbh it can't handle an oc'd 3930k. The thing is I could oc and undervolt at the same time. But that control is taken away, the x7200 was great as I could oc my 980x to 4ghz on all cores while undervolting slightly which kept temp good

  9. Hey thanks! Yeah i am pretty happy with it and so one must be for how much it costs! lol Its just a monster with a Ton of potential, im glad i got it. Will post up more as i test and play around with it further. ;)

    111

*Damn, this thing runs sooo Cool. Great cooling design on this monster for sure!! Playing games now at Ambient room temp of 23 degrees C now running the 1050v OV bios the 680M,s don't go above 74 degrees. And CPU doesn't even go above 60 degrees C. WOW! Gaming @ 980mhz / 2100mhz and killing every game.

My good man, what ov vbios are u using? I want to try the clevo ov 1.025 vbios, I think that would allow me 1000/2400 oc

  10. Yeah my p570wm is great too. Came from the x7200 which I liked too but its 480m gpu was pants!

My oc'd 680m's are at 954/2349 and average 65c in games and I have demciflex custom made on all the 4 fan ports under the laptop protecting from dust! Games are making my 3930k Max out at about 58c after exteded play. 3dmark will get CPU to 62 and gpu to 69c though, still good. This is all using auto fans and the fan profile on the p570wm ain't great tbh. Cooling can be even better cause fans come in too late, most of the time the 2nd CPU fan doesn't even operate! Gpu fan profiles are good though

Only thing pissing me off is the CPU oc abilty which clevo has made sure is not there for this system. Its messed up! Example is if u do a small 3.7ghz oc on CPU vcore is rammed up to around 1.35v! Which is enough for a 4.3ghz oc! This produces way too much heat for daily use! There is no way of controlling CPU vcore! Gpu could perform better also as clevo have locked the pcie at 1.1 instead of 2. With the nvidia patch we could unlock pcie 3 but nope, clevo says 1.1 only! Grrrr!

Apart from that its an excellent machine. If BIOS is sorted out to allow cpu oc while controlling vcore I'll have an orgasm!

And I forgot to mention I use coollaboratory liquid metal-ultra paste on CPU and gpu's. ..very, very carefully lol! Around 4c better than any other paste for me

  11. I really really thought hard about it, but decided against for the fact I'm always tinkering and removing heat sink which would mean a new application would be needed each time. Too expensive!

Other pastes were just not up to the task so I'm using coollaboratory liquid ultra. Just as good and removing heat sinks doesn't require new application, just a tidy up of the liquid metal with the brush, evening it out.

Around 4c better than normal paste for me on my CPU 3930k and sli 680m.

  12. All valid points. Just had both xfire 7970m and 680m sli recently, the xfire came out of the box with screen flickering, turned out to be faulty xfire cable. Performance was better in the games I was playing, all these reports of 680m being faster wasnt true for me. But one of the 7970ms failed so back the whole laptop went, replaced with sli 680ms for £400 more! Oh the pain! Slightly worse performance fps wise but trouble free free free!

I must be mad, but things like screen brightness adjusting, AA, they just weren't working with xfire, sli is smoother too, and when oc'd....omg!!
