I love Windows 8 AND my Y500. People who complain about a "learning curve" are complaining about their unwillingness to open themselves to change. The speed increase is quite noticeable, and it's pretty.

If you forceware the graphics drivers to 310.90 you can easily overclock your graphics to 1150/2300 and run games at much higher FPS.

Guys. You can overclock the video card even without the modded bios. What drivers are you running wuzongh? If you run the 310 drivers you'll be able to overclock to at least 1150/2300

I am so confused after reading and re-reading these threads. Is the modified bios necessary to do the overclocks on the gpu? I only really need to overclock it to around 900mhz so the artificial limit isn't a big deal to me.

Also, can I be using 314.22 or do I need to revert down?

If I were to install a larger mSata card in here AND I have my own legitimate install of Windows 8, will I have the same problem booting from the solid state?

How did you get devmgr to do that because every single time I try it does nothing. Says device is up to date.

I see, I guess I read your last post about it incorrectly svl7. That is an incredible bummer I cannot lie. Nothing like actually being able to see your battery deplete in real time.

This all looks very promising, and much kudos to svl7, whom is the only one giving all of us Y500 owners some hope. The biggest thing, I believe, is that we get the HD4000 enabled if we can. If not this laptop will have been a lie to many of us. If we can somehow do that then this laptop will be golden.
