  2. i wonder what the difference is between prema's 980m vbios and svl7 / jonksss 980m vbios? which is preferred?

I was wondering the excact same thing, I have an AW17 with a 120hz screen and recently flashed my 980m with the prema 1.1 bios. The reason for this i stumbled around and found a nvflash version that would let me flash it in windows after i had disabled the gpu in device manager.

the previous gpu i had (780m installed) was a solid performer and worked really well with the svl7 bios loaded onto it. So what are the differences between the two bios's as i would love to try the 980m svl7 bios if i can flash it the same way i flashed the prema bios..

    Thanks in advance

  3. Ah, for the 780M, that could be a different story. Might be worth flashing the vBIOS even if you don't overclock, but it depends whether you're seeing throttling at the moment or not. Do some gaming & monitor your GPU core & memory clocks (and temperatures) using a monitoring program, like GPUz. If you're experiencing throttling, then the modified vBIOS could help. If you're getting throttling due to high temperatures though, then you'd need to sort that out, no point flashing the modded vBIOS if it's the fault of your temperatures.

    Hi mate

Thanks for the reply, my temps on the gpu are static under load at 68c. I will have to check my memory clocks I see what they are doing.

I alway check the temps mainly, I'm new to this so learning as I go

    Thanks a lot

  4. hi guys,

Just looking for a bit of advice from the more experienced users on here. I have AW17 with 4900qm processor and a gtx780m gpu.

if i was to install the bios mod rev2 what would it do for me in the way of performance if anything, i'm not an overclocker or into benchmarking, i just play games.. would this mod reach new levels of performance for me?

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hi Guys,

Just wondering im very new to PC gaming, and i have just bought AW18 with dual gtx780m's installed.... currently the frame rates im seeing are amazing on ultra settings @ 1080p, mainly in the 60's...

if i was to load this modded bios what would i gain, i don't benchmark or know enough about overclocking. so i was wondering what gain would i see from the bios at stock clock settings... or can i increase them a little and gain from it in everyday gaming...

thanks alot in advance, im very new to oc gaming so be gentle...

  6. I Have an aw18 with similar screen bleed, but mine is also bleeding from the middle just above the Alienware logo on the screen... its doing my head in...

i cant live with it either, im going to call AW and ask for a replacement... only just had my sound problem repaired, complete motherboard change. i hate it when you buy a new machine that is so expensive and someone comes around and tears it apart....

fingers crossed the screen i get is dead pixel free and no light bleed.... i have a feeling this is going to get painful...

i will post a picture later...

    thanks
