  1. Bumping this post to re-iterate the strong interest for a Win8 bios mod. I know there's a lot of people on notebookreview who are not represented here that would be all over this.

As always, let me/us know if there is anything we can do to help. I would be happy to donate my time or money to this project (even if it turns out unfruitful). Thanks!

  2. I do own the sheet battery. The weight it adds is not bad imo. You will be able to tell the difference with it attached. However, it still feels like a typical laptop with nothing attached (like those 15" thinkpads T series).

I have not stressed tested the sheet battery, but I remember it shows on Windows 8 as a separate battery, I think it will give you at least 50% more battery time, if not double, compared to the integrated one.

Awesome. Thanks for the response. I'm sure I'll get one sooner or later but I'm definitely tempted to pick one up now. I just love the slim, sexy look of the stock profile--so I'd probably just use it for long trips or something of that sort.

This may sound like a stupid question, but how does the weight of the sheet battery compare to the power brick? I'm thinking I might be able to get away with not bringing my power brick in my bag on certain days if I have the sheet battery. In which case the weight would be a wash (for bag carrying purposes).

  3. S15 owner here. Quick question for anybody with the sheet battery: how do they feel about the overall weight it adds? I don't mind the thickness so much, but I don't want to lose the portability that the S15 currently offers. I've read the sheet battery adds awesome battery life and I really would love to take advantage of that.

  4. Okay, that's possible as well, but that would be a bigger problem. I would need access to the system in order to figure out whether I can solve this or not. If anyone (or you) is willing to let me poke around on his system with team viewer... let me know.

svl7, I would be willing to let you poke around on my system if I can't get it working on my own. As I mentioned before, as soon as I get 5 posts, I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work I'll message you and give you access to do what you need to do.

    Thanks again!!

  5. After doing the bios mod, I am sure the tempretures will rise, specifically in the CPU. Is there anyway I can increase the cooling of the laptop to avoid over heating?

I'm not sure the BIOS mod will affect the heat of the CPU... because this overclocks the dedicated GPU. The overall heat output of the system will surely increase when the dedicated GPU is enabled and you are gaming. The only thing you can do is set the fans to "performance" which will keep them at full/high speed when needed.

AFAIK, overheating hasn't been a problem with this laptop as long as fans are on full. Even from those with Win7 model with BIOS already overclocked.
