  1. Hi dbg

I have done what you have told me to do, however the effect is still the same, flashing for a moment than it stops....i have even tried to do it without CMOs Battery, no idea what else i could go, i have ordered new bios chip, just in case nothing else can be done...best and thanks for your efforts to help me...

  2. Hello,

If this is not too late to try, then i wish to help you with your troubles...

So, to recover your msi gx740 (ms-1727) "back to life" (i assume you flashed correctly bootblock) you will try to:

1, download atm latest BIOS archive for your machine from MSI Global ? Download Center

2, extract that 1727_10f.zip file onto any folder you want and rename original bios file in that folder named E1727IMS.10F > E1727IMS.ROM

3, prepare one CD / DVD (even ReWritable one) and burn to ROOT of that CD / DVD only one file - your renamed BIOS file > E1727IMS.ROM

4, put this CD / DVD into your MSI 740 and before you press POWER ON button, hold Ctrl and Home or Ctrl and Fn and Home pressed till you will see blinking DVD access LED blinking

5, wait some time to recover your BIOS (you will be able see progress about flashin BIOS at your LCD screen) and welcome back your MSI...

(Note: you may put that renamed file E1727IMS.ROM to USB stick too but some MSI machines only accept CD / DVD as recovery target medium)

    Good Luck

    Hi dbg

I have tried this and it seems to be copying the file from dvd, however after a while it stops and nothing happens, my laptop seems to be in sleep mode(blue light on when i turn it) all the time, no idea what to do, thanks for your help best

  3. nothing seems to be working...so i have decided to order new chip for my motherboard....plus i have looked through all forums there and there is no help regarding it....maybe msi is removing those posts...best

  4. when i have flashed my bios, it did not flash it completely as my screen did not look like the one from msi picture, on mine only erasing flash, writing flash, verifying flash occurred, there was no erasing nvram, writing nvram or the rest...it just came back to c: ....and when i have restarted my laptop all i could see was black sceen of death...whn i try to flsh it using pendrive it seems to be working for about 10-5 seconds then nothing.....i will check that forum thx, but maybe one of you knows what to do with my laptop model....

  5. Guys, I have just joined this forum as you are the best and I need some help, recently I have flashed bios(used the one provided by msi website) on my msi gx740(ms-1727) and unfortunately something went wrong and now all I have can see is black screen of death. I know it is quite old laptop now, but I have just upgraded its processor (i7-720, ram (1333), ssd samsung 256 (the reason why I have undertaken bios flashing, as sometimes it would not work and I would have to restart my laptop) and also replaced dvd with Blu-ray....I am trying to flash it as you advice in the case of bad flash, but I am not sure what combination of keys I should use? Help anyone??
