4Hi guys I think i have a big problem. I smelled some smoke from my y500 and i saw the battery is started to discharge so fast while im on AC adapter...windows shows its charging but no... Now i can'T really start my laptop (only for some second) the battery indicator is blinking in orange color.
I have 2.02 unlocked bios (upgraded from 1.04)
So can I recover like I upgraded it,just I have to use my backupped 1.04 bios? Before i send back?
I will try out to start my laptop with a weaker charger,(i tried to start without the battery but no success)
Edit: Seems my charger died, it is charging just too slowly (35% in 10hour), I think I have to send back my whole laptop so I still have to recover to my original bios.
Can someone tell me How to do that? And same with the Ultrabay is it enough to run the official 8.1bios update?

Need main bios and ultrabay bios for Y500 with GeForce 650M overvolted to 1.15 or 1.25v. Can anyone help?
With vBios 1.1v my results is 1178Mhz for GPU Core, and 2638Mhz for Memory (It's Stable clocks), i want to try more, but i need to increase voltage
I think you will run out of the power of adapter.

Anyone tried the win8.1? I tried it but seems SLI not working.
-
As I know its impossible.
-
I think its only the Adaptive Vsync by nVidia
-
What about the temps on 1.1V?

Editing the GPU bios with Kepler BIOS Tweaker (voltage increase) can work? or its only good for desktop GPUs?
-
@gnan10 The overclocking SLI is just an addition for the SLI users, the modded bios gives you access to overclock your single GPU (or GPU 0, main or whatever we want to call it)
to my problem: is there a possibility that my ultrabay GPU is at 0 instead of 1, this is the only thing I can think of, why else would the flash don´t work ?
On the other hand my gpu 0 already shows modified and if the numbers are matching there is no other possibility left
Is it safe to just try it ?
As I know the display and the video outs are connected to the GPU0 so i think is impossible to use only the ultrabay GPU. But someone with more information will give you proper answer if this one is wrong.

What is the max temp for GPUs? I can't found any information about this. I know the CPU limit is at 105 C

Power adapters usually run hot when you're gaming or doing anything strenuous. You should test with a Kill-a-watt power meter if you're worried but I doubt you're even close to maxing out the 170W charger. Plus you have the i5 which uses less power than the i7.
FurMark + IBT is a good extreme scenario stress test but it's not at all representative of real usage. You're never gonna be maxing out the GPU's and exceeding TDP on the CPU in any game.
BTW since you have SLI you need to use the fullscreen 3D test in OCCT to utilize both graphics cards. FurMark and MSI Kombustor in fullscreen both only run on the first GPU regardless of which AFR mode or rendering API you use.
I Don't want to overvoltage my system. I just want to warn RedLionRisen to be careful about this for safety.
BTW if I upgrade the BIOS to 2.02 from 1.05 and the vbios mod for 2. GPU. Can I easly rollback to the original ones for the warranity... no? And for the worst possibility is there any solution to debrick the computer?

I would also like to know this. I'd love to try modifying the vbios to increase the voltage and overclocking potential.
Be careful with the voltage. When i played with Tomb Raider (i5, SLI little OC (+135Mhz)) ,the power adapter was so hot and this is the weakest point of laptops as I know, and it's have only 1 year warranty.
We should monitor the powers during furmark+IBT to see what amount of power we have left.
BTW if we could adjust the voltage its could be good because the under voltage option.

So updating the 1.03 to 2.02 bios is working, and it is containing the vbios mod for the No1 GPU?

I think if u re install your OS in ACHI mode (not in uEFI) will solve your problem. But i can't guarantee it for you, i just guess it.
