I'm starting to feel its a revision thing, did you get your 17r se with the cpu i7 3630qm (or that was at least the default i7 cpu at time of purchase?) instead of the earlier 3610. Obviously i doubt the cpu change is what made it fail, but perhaps the MB has had a silent change/update along with the cpu bump as well? Either way I'd recommend not using the mod if you've bought your 7720 recently.

Hey, Used the latest 970 clock bios from svl7. Was good for an hour, untill i shut down the notebook. Now seems to be bricked, wont turn on proper. Only the leds turn on and hd spin for a sec, thats about it. Any tips?

same issue here. temps were fine after flash (about 30 mins of ss3, not more than around 80) , boot after first real shutdown failed. i'd wonder if gpu was responsible. didn't get original bios flashed back so only solution for me was change of mb...

After trying the cyborg rat 7 (to flat and uncomfortable wide for my feeling), the razer imperator (sides are cheapest glossy plastic) and the logitech g700, latter is my favorite. it is overall good processed an really precise. the only disturbing thing is the battery life of about 24h in gaming mode.

Pretty much this. I tend to use my laptop in a bright area with tons of light coming into the window at my college which I have no control over. so I need a Matte. Though at night time I would like a Glossy for Movies and such but. being able to game in the sunlight is a huge bonus. sense the colors are not as vibrant I was wondering does resolution matter as much with a matte? than with a glossy

imho, glossy versions are often used to compensate poor panels. so i would not prefer glossy for movies in general. of course a good panel with glossy finish might perform better in that situation than a comparable matte one.

Why do you need hardware switches considering the f-keys in combination with the orange symbols? Works perfect for me and you don't have a cheap-fealing plastic-stripe beneath your display as i had in my previous vostro 1710.
