  1. Ah crap, I messed up the naming scheme... v8.00 is 5DCN89WW, I mistakenly labelled it as 5DCN90WW... So yes, if you have v8.00 you can safely use my (slightly mislabeled) mod (v8.00 in your case).

I have the 5DCN90WW on my laptop. Does this mean the mod you posted wont work for my laptop?

    Thanks.

  2. I flashed this BIOS on my Y580... It seemed to work just fine, and I left my BIOS settings at default after flashing. However, after I shut the computer down and then left it alone for a day or two, now I can't boot it up anymore. I can't even get to a BIOS screen. The power turns on, but I get no beep (if I hold down a button for long enough it will beep at me, and the system is otherwise totally unresponsive). Is there anything I can do? I didn't change the settings at all, I just flashed the BIOS and left the settings at default.

Not sure it'll work, but I flashed my old HP laptop and it did the same thing. The only thing that fixed it was removing the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes and then putting it back in. It booted right up after that. Worth a shot.

  3. One more question, I noticed that in my current BIOS it says that I have version 5DCN90WW (v8.0.1) the modified bios is version 2.0.6 which I think is 5DCN39WW. Are these two both the same? I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y580 that I just bought about a week ago.

Did yours have the same bios version when you installed the modified? Lenovo's website shows that 5DCN39WW is the latest bios available for this laptop on their website, but I don't know why I have 5DCN90ww.

  4. Hello,

I just bought this laptop and I wanted to put an Intel Ultimate-N 6300, so I was going to use this modified BIOS. I just wanted to know that if I don't want the modified BIOS in the future is it possible to flash the regular stock BIOS on top of it again and go back to the way it came?

Also, can anyone else confirm that the Intel 6300 works with the modified BIOS posted in the first post of this thread and that the one another user posted in this thread isn't needed?

    Thank you.
