  1. Of course, just place here your vbios from your GTX 780M.

And i think your problem is power hungry. For overclock your configuration you need power supply(power adapter) with more power. For example 220W or 240W, may be from another laptop.

Thanks klem. i sent you a pm but and i will donate you... i got another issue i think its better i pm you.

  2. I just recently upgraded to gtx780m on my old msi gt60 with 670m--> 680m--> 780m now. Problem is its working fine but with the boost or turbo, i am experiencing throttling(i think its the cpu) . Same thing with my old 680m card. Its working fine on stock speed but if i overclock a tiny bit it will throttle.

Is there any way to disable boost on 780m to core speed 771 instead of 849?

  3. hi everyone,

New member, I've stalked the forums here for awhile before posting, so first I want to thank everyone for creating such a great forum, its been helpful thus far in my fairing :) . I just got my first laptop (almost out of high school, finally saved up enough money from cooking pizzas to buy one

    :Banane21:

), as the title says, i bought a gt60 and I have a few (several) questions.. but before I ask them, I'll give a little background on this laptop. I bought it used off Ebay, (yeah.. probably not super-wise..

    :02:

), and it was being sold with a gtx 675m 2gb gddr5.. well, it arrived, and the sticker and all that has the exact specs claimed in the ad, but when i opened up Geforce experience, gpu-z, and system settings (just to be sure), I found that it has a 680m 4gb gddr5 in it. also, its clocked at 771MHz (according to gpu-z). I want to make sure beforehand that I flash the right bios to it, yet the stock speed for the 680m I thought was 719MHz??? so how is it running at 771MHz with the stock bios... (question #1, which bios do i want/need to use for this confused, parts infused laptop?). second question, I just put in my vengeance 1866 RAM, and its not running at 1866, instead its running just below in the 17xx's (cpu-z to figure this out), is that because of the current bios?

    Best Regards,

    jkline

The gtx680m on msi gt60 core speed is 751 without turbo i think and 771 with turbo button enabled.

  4. Does anyone know how to upgrade GPU the MSI GT70-0NC? it uses the ms-1762mootherboard,. i current have a GTX 670M 3gb. i attempted to put a GTX 870m 6GB in, thinking it would be no problem, however once i did, when i turned it on, the screen was in 8bit resolution. colors were distorted, screen was zoomed way in, and windows did not detect the GTX 870m at all, not matter what driver i put in. no, i already have tried using modded inf files, still same as problems. i have been dredging the web for two weeks now, to no avail.

    please please please help!

I think msi is a bit tricky here. I used to have a 680m bought from ebay eurocom but it just wont work and detected as a generic vga adapter. Modding the drivers also failed. But after flashing the video card vbios to msi it works like a charm. Maybe you can try ask anyone with msi gt70 and upload their 870m vbios to you and flash it.

  5. Hi, i am thinking to swap over my gtx680m to my alienware m17xr as the alienware 680m is dead. So my question is

    1. will 780m or 880m work? ( i heard 780m works but you need to flash the gt60 bios to 10p or 30p)

    2. My msi gt60 is a windows 7 machine with E16F3IMS.10S bios, i tried looking everywhere on the net for a 10p or 30p bios but no luck. And is it windows 7 bios or windows 8? Any idea where i can get them?

[h=5][/h]3 Will optimus work with the gtx780m or 880m with the 10p or 30p bios?

Hope anyone can enlighten me on this.

    Thank You.

  6. Hi guys,

I am in need of some advice or assistance.

I am thinking of buying either a gtx780m or 880m to replace my dead clevo gtx680m in my m17xr4. Now that the 880m drivers are out, i guess getting the 880m makes more sense over the 780m.

My question is will the clevo 780m or 880m work in the m17xr4?. Do i need to flash the vbios to a modded 1 or alienware stock vbios?

And i have a 60 hz screen, is it just plug and play or do i have to install unlocked bios for the m17xr4 to disable the intel gpu? I didn't have to unlock any bios to install the clevo 680m though.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

    Thanks.

  7. I don't know if its a wise idea to upgrade the cpu, The fan or thermals might not have enough juice to cool down the cpu and gpu together since you have a gtx680m in it. I also ever consider this option before

but i think i read somewhere someone was getting like 98 temps on cpu 3840 qm i think i abandon the idea lol.

  8. I got my msi gt60 with gtx680 down from 90s temp to 82 after replacing ic7 diamond 7 with artic mx 4. Problem is ic7 diamond cannot be spread with credit card swipe. chances of applying too much is quite high.

I changed to artic mx4 and spread with cradit card as thin as possible and now idling about 33-36 and max 82 without turbo fan on. With turbo boost is get 84-85. With turbo fan on i get high 70s.

    Thanks. so these vbios'e from slv7 http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1847-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks.html

for MSI is good to update right? No need for a modded driver? thanks

Hmm i tried those slv7 bios on my alienware but not on my msi gt60. Reason very simple alienware has better cooling. Even overvolted msi bios i get like max temps 78 on my alienware. Msi is different, on stock bios is about near 80 @ full load without turbo fan.

Overclocking with afterburner + 135 clocks i get like 85 temps with turbo fan on. If my msi gonna use those bios i think it will hit 90s temp which i think is really too high.

  10. @trigger

Can tell me what name of merchant in ebay you bought your 680m? much better to send me via message. Any brand of nvdia GTX680M is good to get? Like Alienware, CLevo, or Eurocom? And do you have ESD strap & mat while changing the card? Or just DYI to avoid static while replacing the card. Thanks

I bought the card from eurocom but a clevo card should work fine too since you can flash the vbios to the original msi gt60 bios. Even if you buy from eurocom its not the original gt60 bios you still have to use modded drivers. I did flash my card to msi gt60 vbios and turbo boost is working too. I didn't use ESD straps or mat, i just use my bare hands to fix it without gloves.

  11. You considered lucky le. I bought in may when ivy bridge jsut came out i bought the first variant gt60. The gpu gtx670m was the fastest back then. No choice have to resort to upgrade my laptop via ebay as no vendors in SG will sell you the parts.

They want you to sell and buy new laptops instead thats why i bought msi and alienware. Samsung and asus or toshiba is definetly out for me as their gpu mxm is slightly modded.

  12. The eurocom bios is msi but its not the original gt60 bios, yeah that bios is good enough for overclocking, i happen to live in a hot country and i don't wanna see my temps go up to about 88 so i flashed to a msi gt60 stock bios.

Even on stock clocks it can handle almost every game you throw at it, i only overclock a bit if i want to game in 3d with tridef. Here is a link if you going to use Eurocom bios.

    Geforce 306.02 - Modded - Dox's Customised Geforce Releases - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

The Eurocom msi bios is very weird, those drivers i modded and install had optimus issue, even the drivers from eurocom drivers is not working for me. What i do is install dox drivers first, then mod the latest driver to install.

If you flash to stock msi bios you can install any drivers without modding.

Installation is pretty easy, fill up the gap with thermal pads on your gtx670m heatsink, You will not need to use the x bracket. As long as you get idling temps 38-40 your good to go ( I live in singapore and its very hot here)

    Good luck.

  13. Would just like to ask again those gtx680m cards from eurocom is compatible with msi gt60-onc? Or is standard mxm board that can be fitted to sager, alienware laptops too? thnx

Oh!!! the upgrade itch cant resist!!!!..... lol

Hi, yes you can use the bios from eurocom its not the original msi gt60 bios though when i got it, i need to use a modded driver. If you dun want the hassle of modding the drivers,

You can flash to a msi gt60 vbios it works too turbo boost also working but you might experience some throttling if you overlock too high. The eurocom vbios has a much oc capability.

  14. I was thinking of upgrading my m17xr4 gpu after having upgraded my msi gt60 to gtx680m, i knew its only 7970m or 680m for my alienware. Question is i was heavily tempted to buy another gtx680m for my alienware but i heard latest drivers from 7970m really pumped up the performance and its a lot cheaper than nvidia. anyone can confirm this? how much do you get for 7970m on 3dmark 11 stock clocks?

  15. My mum laptop broke down so i brought her to a shop to buy a normal notebook. On the desk we saw asus g75 and alienware m17xr4. So i ask my mum to consider the asus due to the price which is a lot cheaper. She only stream drama on laptop never even game. Instead she wanted the m17xr4 next to the asus g75 coz of the flashy lights on the keyboard nice screen and awesome build quality. The asus just pale in comparison. Alienware 1 Asus 0

  16. Hi i know the gt60 0NE some variant comes with the super raid pcb. I upgraded my gt60 0NC with gtx680m from eurocom and i am pretty pleased with it but is it possible to buy the super raid msata pcb or controller off the shelf? I ask around msi and none will sell it or no reply from emails.

  17. Hi, i help my friend install my gtx670m card from msi onto his alienware m15x, he used his own x bracket onto the gtx670m so he can reuse the screw on his alienware heatsink. As for the thermals, i just told him put thermal pads on the chips and leave no metal contact onto the card. So far his temps pretty good like high 60s on full load.
