If you're gonna use a phat PS3 i would also recommend taking it apart. They produce a stupid amount of heat.

Yeah I'd also recommend a getting an used clevo, msi or alienware. Check for ones that can have their GPU's upgraded, as for CPU personally i feel that anything after 3rd gen Intel doesn't make much of a difference.

I had a clevo P170EM with a Nvidia 675m and went to a 980m, but cheaper options are also possible.
