  1. It's not about me, it's about you. Why June though? I understand that you want to get a new GDC adapter, but I'm not sure if you actually need it. What makes you think that's the faulty component, if you also doubt your PSU? Unless there is something you didn't write here, I suggest to get PSU and GPU checked and try again.

Don't worry, it won't be easy. There is a ton of software errors and malfunctions you can meet later. [emoji4]

Hey I got the new beast 3 weeks ago and was not able to implement coz had exams.
It worked flawlessly when I followed the steps perfectly....enjoying the expierene so far. One more thing I have saved enough money to buy a gaming pc

    I thought about spending 500 dollars and getting a i5 7400 and a gtx 1050 ti or
Thinking about getting a gtx 1060 3gb version which would be better though, any thoughts.

  2. Nice to hear it's working for you. I wish it was for me!

I have a Lenovo T530 (i5-3320M, 16GB RAM) and the EXP GDC v8 ExpressCard adapter and I can't run a 3d benchmark test without the eGPU turning off immediately. I have Setup 1.30 that performs a DSDT substitution and that works with no problems, but it seems when I run anything remotely graphically intensive it turns itself off.

Hey have you tried you tried the procedure he has given in the middle it was initially not working for me too if you need help I can help you it worked for me later strangely I actually did some steps exactly the way he did

  4. Sure.

Well, my PSU fan only works when it's under heavy load, which is never with just eGPU. I have only done this wiring once, which makes me no expert on troubleshooting. I would say that you should verify if your components work before any other action. Maybe you can use some other PC or PC maintenance shop to have your components checked.

I will post some pics of the egpu setup to you when I do it again in June. I hope that's fine for you.

  5. Hi. I would start investigating why is PSU not working. How can you tell if it's working? If you have everything wired right and laptop running, there is a green diod on GDC (at least on mine). You could also post the full spec, including eGPU and PSU.

Why i said that psu was not working was because the fan did not start, even though I grounded psu and gave all connections properly I will post pics for your reference. In the pic If you zoom in you will be able to see a green wire(pin 15) and black wire for grounding(pin 13 or 14). When you do that the psu starts working. Please message me if the pic was not clear.882059c1df2838c1f3e5524136b46fa5.jpg

Hi thanks for that reply. I look forward to sharing more details with you, once i get a new beast. You might find this a bit strange but bare with me. When I actually did the connections the green led on the beast lit up for a second, but that's it did not show up later.

  7. When i was researching to build mine egpu set up, i stuck all the time at the exp gdc beast product too....i know.....!!! One day i saw a video on youtube with title "DIY egpu adapter" i think,  were one russian guy  shows how to build your own mpcie to pcie egpu adapter, and also he compared his adapter with the one i'm using right now. Anyway....as i said, it's cheap and gets the job done. I can assist you step by step how to set it up if you could provide me a video or photos of your bios set up menu and its configuration or advanced options tab.

Will do that once I get the new beast. Thanks.

  8. I find some sort of supported laptops list but i couldn't find your specific model, but, lots of Del 15 series seems to be compatible. In my experience, neither my lenovo g580 was on that list but still i managed (pretty easy) to make it work. So, the adapter which i'm using is THIS.

You may want to try that one and see for yourself.

Whoa , that is different so you connected from pcie from computer to mpcie. Most of the youtube videos I watched used beast so i went for it, not to mention I did tons of research , only to disappointingly end in a defective product, which the setup did not even turn on I thought the atx connectors were the problem, hence the psu was not grounded(the green colour wire or the yellow 12 volt wire) right now I am going to buy from my cousin in US. I hope it would be proper then.

  9. I don't have del laptop but i successfully installed my egpu setup on my lenovo g580. The good news is that since you have intel cpu, it is more likely going to work, since most egpu setups i have seen was working with intel cpu's. The bad news (not so :)) is that you may have some troubles setting your egpu set up. The most difficult problem that you may have is BIOS whitelist for mpcie slot that your laptop may have. if this is the case i can't help you and i don't recommend you to flash your bios with modded one with more options, cuz if you do something wrong.....well.... i do not have to comment on that!!!! But if your laptop does not have whitelist you are lucky.

First, you have to disable your dedicated GPU from bios settings if you have one. If not, skip this step. 2nd, you have to supply your GTX GPU with external PSU (see specs for your GPU power consumption) but any 350W PSU or above  will do. IMPORTANT: You have to power on your gpu at first and then you power on your laptop.

If you need more assistance, feel free to ask me. Hope that helped.

Hi thanks for the help I did try the setup on beast 8.4d, however the setup did not even turn on even after doing the connections properly. I thought the product was defective and returned it on Amazon I did get the refund. I am still going to try the setup after I buy a different beast from an another source. I will send you a message if I run into any problems. Thanks again for your help.
