  1. I had tried to upgrade my 560m to the 580m and could never get past the throttling. I had flashed the stock MSI bios, added the extra power wire, Throttlestop, etc...

I could never get it to stop throttling.

I then moved to the 7970m with the clevo no enduro bios and it works great with zero throttling.

There was only one thing that doesn't work is the sound over hdmi (video still works).

  2. Also check to make sure you got the w8 version of the bluetooth driver. Sometimes they just put the w7 version in the download section until the w8 version is released.

  3. My MSI GT780 which is the 1761 had the 560m. I bought a 580m and it throttled. Some said that if you use throttlestop they could get past the throttling but I could not even with the upgraded 180w (vs stock 150w) powerbrick. The whitebooks are not much different if I remember.

I have now gone to a Dell 7970m with a heatsink from the MSI GX60(hard to find unfortunately at the moment)

  4. MSI MS-1761 Unlocked.zip <---does this BIos allow you to upgrade to Nvidia 675M/680M with the notebook supporting it? Or does the stock 1761 Bios already allow that? I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

    I have the GT780 with 560m.

The 675m is the 580m with a different name. I tried the 580m and it throttled. As for the 680m from what I have read it will not work. Something to do with the optimus I think.

A card that will work is the Dell 7970m or Clevo 7970m hm card with enduro disabled, You will have to look around to get the 7970 heatsink from an MSI GX60.

Hope this helps. Just do some more reading there are lots of post in a different forum
