  1. I have been asking around for you and the only hardware difference between P775DM1 and P775DM is the Heatsink (GTX980 Vs. GTX980M) and AC Adapter (330W Vs. 240W).

As far as I can tell, you could upgrade a P775DM to a P775DM1 by changing GTX980 GPU, Heatsink & AC Adapter and, well, the BIOS.
(The GTX980 is NOT supported by in any of the regular P7x0DM model).
Also for the future I would stay away from the normal P7x0DM models...either get a P870 or a P775..

Thank you SO much for this info!  I've been lurking here and on other forums looking for exactly this info, and I joined here just to post this reply.

I want the P775DM, and even more now that I know I could convert it to a P775DM1 later.  But, I read another post that said only resellers in Asia are selling the P775DM.  I can't find it...can someone point me to the resellers who are selling the P775DM?

AZOM systems(based in Kolkata,India) plan to launch the p775dm sometime this month, don't know about other Asian countries.

  2. What are the differences between the P775DM and P775DM1 apart from the GPU support(chassis/cooling/motherboard?), or to put it another way, what mods will it take to turn the P775DM into the P775DM1?Sent from my Micromax AQ4501 using Tapatalk

Good question...the P775DM (non DM1) is not carried by anyone except in Asia...

It's using its own BIOS, so there must be electrical board changes...I'll check when I get back from my travels...

Thank you so much Prema. I might have to pull the trigger on the p775dm within a month so I'd like to know as much about this model as possible.

  3. Hello,

I've had my Y580 a while now and due to so many complications I feel like I should be replacing it soon. I though about building my own custom laptop alot. My roommate is hell bent on Apple and there's no way in hell I'm going that route. Can anybody suggest anything in the 1000 to 1500$ CAD range (I think that would be approx 600-1000$ USD)

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers

Strictly in your budget your options are the lenovo y700 and the Dell Inspiron 7559.

If you don't mind stretching your budget just a bit I would highly recommend the Eurocom Sky series(based on Clevo), MX for portability and price, X for the best performance, customizability and upgradablity offered by laptop in a long time.

Edit: request Eurocom for Prema unlocked BIOS and VBIOS if you plan to tweak clocks and voltages.

  4. Upgraded P870DM(Phoenix 2.0[emoji4]) with

1)UHD screens with HDR and VESA adaptive sync/G-sync and 100% pro photo RGB)

    2) larger keyboard with per key customizable lighting supporting software like corsair keyboard SDK

    to link with games.

3)replace a 2.5 inch bay with an m.2 NVMe for more room for other components

    4)larger capacity battery

    5)larger capacity charging power brick.

Also a slim laptop with just a quad core CPU with iris pro and a PICe 16x slot to connect desktop GPU, and thunderbolt 3.

  5. I was told that the model I am planning to buy has a G-Sync compatible LCD screen, however in the review it is said that it is not G-Sync compatible.

Did Eurocom just send a model with a default laptop screen or I was misinformed and this laptop is not available with G-Sync screen (I was told that the one I am planning to buy has 60 Hz refresh rate, but ut is G-Sync compatible) ?

There are two models(or rather just two displays), one with(P775DM1) and one without g-sync(P775DM1-G).

  6. Hello.

This might look like a strange question to ask but I would like to know if at this point it is worth it upgrading from a P750ZM to a P750DM-G ?

My current specs are the best I could get in my ZM.

    -i7 4790K (overclocked) @ 4.3 GHZ

    -16 GB Ram Hyper X Impact DDR3

    -GTX 980M custom Vbios (Overclocked)

    -2 x Samsung 950 Pro 500 Gb V-Nand SSD

    -1X 1TO SSHD (seagate) 7200.

I was wondering if there is any advantage the DM has over the ZM are Intel 6 gen processors worth it over my i7 4790K ?

Is there any advantage of having thunderbolt on a laptop that's already up-gradable ?

Is there any other advantages of getting a DM-G at this point in time.

I have been hearing a lot about 6 gen intel and the new 750DM-G's but I got my ZM expecting to keep it for at least two years upgrading to a top of the line PASCAL GPU along the way when those are available and when the bios updates are available before buying a new clevo barebone and transferring my GPU and SSD's into my new clevo system when I purchase it I was expecting to do this at around X-Mas 2016-Early 2017.

Is there any good reason for upgrading before end 2016 early 2017 ?

I am currently torn between sending the money in this hobby or in another one (film photography).....

Thank you in advance for your help and advice !

Personally... No. The p750dm doesn't offer much more than what your current config can achieve, exept if you intend to max out the 40 Gbps bandwidth of thunderbolt 3 port for eGPU(980ti/titan x/quadro/pascal) or multi 4k display/5k display or external NVMe storage, in which case I would rather recommend the p870dm since it offers much more-

-Better graphics cards/SLI(you could SLI your existing card)

-Close to 100% adobe rgb 4k auo display (useful for your other hobby)

    -Better cooling

-more overclocking, especially if you get it with Premas fully unlocked BIOS from a partner shop(with warrenty in some cases), or can wait for the free public release.

    -More usb, GbE LAN

Uses all the PCIe lanes z170 offers, making it the best skylake desktop replacement....

That being said since you already have a great mobo I think you can easily wait till Pascal, Kaby lake and Skylake-E arrives.

If you are really in a rush to get the best system NOW, not satisfied with your current performance and have money to burn[emoji14]

    1) for better GPU(s) performance, display and thunderbolt 3, upgrade to the p870dm(with Prema BIOS if you can)

    http://www.eurocom.com/ec/future()ec

    2) for better CPU, even better GPU(s), display and expandability, go for an enthusiast(X99) desktop, keeping your current system for mobility only(I'd rather wait for skylake-E)

    Hope this helps[emoji1]
