I'll join in.
Ordered on 03/19, still In Production.
Specs : Stealth Black, 2630QM, 8GB, 6970M
I understand that Dell's turnaround time is about a week, 10 days tops, so i am expecting it until the end of the month.
If their turnaround time is about a week, 10 days tops, then they're LATE for me, and alot of others... I shall be phoning them tomorrow. What types of questions do you think I should be asking?
-
Yup I've had it for almost a week now. Just getting used to the system and preparing it for benchmarks. I didn't write a review right away because I want a chance to use the system and give it a fair evaluation rather than first impressions. Starting today, I will be running a bunch of game benchmarks on the R3 and R2. You should call Dell about your order.
Will definitely be calling tomorrow. I emailed the csr today, and nothing new... Today is business day 11..

M17x-R3 en route!
Damn, what? Is this through dell order status page, or over the phone? Wonder why mine still says 3/30 and In Production.... they must be screwing me over cuz I ordered through aafes, or cuz I had been calling so much.
-
Guess we needed one of these too. I've had my M17x-R3 on order since March 7th (went into production March 8th) and when I call the order status line, it tells me my system already shipped on March 28th (I guess I must have dialed into the future via a black hole at Dell HQ) and I should expect it by March 30th.
Mine's the same. Folks over on NBR say to expect it later this week, as Dell's turnaround is supposedly 10days tops. I hope this turns out to be true, mang.

hey there dookie - glad to see you and all the others joining the thread here!
@partizan & dane: spot on - the new 'laptop' portfolio for alienware definitely looks to be M11x/M14x/M17x/M18x, which seems to be the perfect lineup imo...
No doubt. So what's the most powerful 14inch out there? Is it the 4820TG thus far?
-
Yes of course you can write up your own review and post it here.
Sounds good. Looking forward to much more participation in these forums.
Thanks again!

I'm going back and forth on what I want for a desktop replacement - I do quite a bit of traveling and I feel that m17x might be too large, but would m14x be large enough!! Oh The Insanity!
Dude. I'm 5'4" and made the tough decision of getting a DTR: the R3. To test my craziness (and anxiousness), I cut out a piece of cardboard at work to match the R3's dimensions (2-dimensional only, of course), and it came out to be as big as my torso. And guess what? I don't mind it. So you may want to do the same. If you can't stand the large size of YOUR piece of cardboard, you prolly may want to get a 14inch laptop
Good luck!

We have the same EDD, welcome to the forum!
Thank you!
Also, looking forward to the review. With your permission, can I contribute a review once I get mine? I'm not a techie/pro, so mine will be more subjective/nubbish review for the common-(wo)man I'll be open to requests of all sorts though.

Dear Sir,
What is your EDD for this? My order also was placed on 3/7 (even though I technically ordered from aafes on 3/3), and I have EDD of 3/30.
TYIA!

This is very useful!
Could you post a tutorial or something for how to do clean install on the R3?
TYIA!

Good to see that you posted this on a diff forum too. How very kind of you

14" is the best size for any type of laptop. Fits every backpack I can think of
I sure hope this comes out. Hopefully with SB cpu and hopefully with a gaming-tier GPU (ATI 68xx or at least a Nvidia 460M). Don't care how much it weighs either.
Oh yeah, shoutout to my boiz: Vikingrinn & Dane!

Tech|Inferno's first in-house Alienware M17x-R3 Review!

Mine is coming tomorrow, so I'll give you as many of my thoughts as possible I will be comparing it to my old hp dv2610us (dated nov. 2007), the Dell Vostro 3400 I use at work (which was purchased late 2010), and compared to the G73 I was messing with at BestBuy.
You can also follow my rant and chatter on NBR too, if I forget to post here
