I purchased a 7260 card from Amazon for my y510p, it arrived today and I got the dreaded "This is not an approved device, please remove it and pay us more money for our approved card" message.

Now I'm not sure what I want to do.  I searched for the Broadcom card, but couldn't find any US sources.

I'm thinking I might have to do the unlocked bios, but flashing a modded bios is a bit scary as well.  If the flashing goes bad, does anyone know if there a recovery process or will I have a brick?  I'm rather annoyed that Lenovo decided to limit the hardware that can be used. I guess for my next laptop I might have to go with Dell instead.

I bought my Broadcom card with Lenovo FRU on ebay from china it took a while to arrive but worked fine, I'm waiting to be promoted so I can try out the modded BIOS, in the meantime I can offer any help I can

If first tried installing a broadom BCM94352 without the withlist bios mod, but was stuck on the lenovo logo loading screen.

I then unlocked my bios with the wlan whitelist mod / vbios mod, the update went without any problems.

    Installed the broadcom bcm94352hmb again.

Now when I boot the Y510P still gets stuck on the Lenovo logo boot screen.

When I go to the bios and disable "wlan device" the laptop boots without problem.

I thought I received a defective Broadcom unit and asked for a replacement, but the problem remains with the replacement unit :(

I tried booting with "wlan device" disabled, and installing the Broadcom drivers using an ethernet cable then rebooting with "wlan device" enabled, but still get stuck on the lenovo logo boot.

    Any idea's ?

    edit: forgot to mention...windows 10...

Which one did you order? mine works just fine with the original BIOS. could be a non Lenovo FRU

  3. As said earlier on this thread an mSATA ssd should perform as well as a SATA ssd just different form factors, I'd always recommend getting an mSATA drive first so you have the flexibility of the empty SATA drive

  4. I've been using the latest Windows 10 drivers right from nVidia the only problem is the dual GPU's tend to overheat when gaming leading to the BSOD's so I try to cap frame rates around 30 whenever I can. More of a hardware flaw than anything else. I've had alot of problems with wifi drivers though
