@Nando4,
Yes, I already ordered a similar adapter two days ago. It's a PA-EMADP(S) from Delock (aparently there are several resellers of this adapter...). Though I'm not sure when will I have a chance to test it since it's been two weeks now and HIT hasn't replied to my email (via website) or PMs (via NBR forum) concerning the PE4L-PM060A.

Did you already received this adapter? If so yes, what are the results?

I've send an e-mail to Bplus about the gen2 compatibility, their answer to me:
Hi Sir, Sorry, KZ-B22 can't support Gen 2. Best Regards, Roger</pre>

I am also interested in this extender, can someone confirm it is working on x2 speed?

PE4L 2.1b and PE4H 3.2 will both work on pci-e 2.0 speed.
An updated version of the PE4H 2.4 with pcie 2.0 speed compatibility was released, but it seems it will not work on pci-e 2.0 speed, as someone tested it on this forum.
Tech Inferno Fan comment: Bplus have subsequently removed all references to pci-e 2.0 compatibility from their PE4H 2.4 and PE4L 1.5 page upon us discovering and alerting them it can't reliably operate at that speed.
Short summary: only PE4L 2.1 and PE4H 3.2 are pci-e 2.0 compatible. Both use a cable soldered on both ends. Any product that uses a cable with a mHDMI connector on one or both ends (PE4L 1.5, PE4H 2.4) will fail pci-e 2.0 transmission.

I don't understand what a picopsu is, is it that small board on which the psu is placed?
Or is it something like convertor to connect a notebook adapter?

Question for people who have a sandy bridge i5-2520m dual core laptop(8gb ram) with x1.2opt setup, will it run battlefield 3 on maximum settings on internal screen? (with a card like gtx460/560ti)?
-
nando what about x1.2opt vs x2.2(opt/lucid) on internal screen?
-
According to this guide on NBR, your iGpu should work by removing a file in windows.
So maybe you can get optimus working
-
Theres someone on NBR who got a thunderbolt egpu x4.2 working on a mba, with igpu working.
He used efi +windows 8.
Check his guide here:
Sonnet Thunderbolt/Expresscard adapter paired with Vidock and 2011 Macbook Pro - Page 6
Question for nando/everyone: do you expect that the zenbook ux32vd will have problems with running egpu? Tolud/dgpu/bios/whitelisting/whatever?
Hmm i really cant decide now what to choose, since thunderbolt is already working under x4.2 link, but its very expensive.
-
Did anyone tried a egpu to a asus zenbook ux32vd? Im considering to buy this laptop, because it gorgeous IPS screen.
Will the ux32vd be able to run a egpu?
I found a picture with bottomplate removed, it seems like theres only one (used) wlan slot(usable mpcie slot?).
Another question will it possible to make a diy connector for the pe4l cable? (I mean just cutting of the cable, and use anything like this?)
If theres a way to make a custom connector for the cable, then its possible to make only a small hole in the bottomplate, to let the cable come out.

update:
teardown guide from ifixit says link:
the Intel 6235 Wi-Fi / Bluetooth 4.0 card comes out of its mini PCI Express socket. Inside we find two Intel ICs:

Nando thanks for your answers.
what kind of powersupply is this? looks very compact -> 200 Watt DC-DC ATX
Another idea: will it be possible to use the internal screen at x2 2.0 (or x4 1.0 for bbx^) speed over expresscard with the lucid software. According to the lucid homepage: "Virtu MVP Mobile - Replaces Optimus", in the product page it says: "boosts gaming responsiveness up to 70%" Lucidlogix with the multi gpu solution
Did anyone made a comparision for optimus vs lucid?
-
Is the PE4L adapter available with detachable cable+2.0speed? PE4L-060A?
-
Great to see the eGPU scene going on here, unfortunately the users are now split in different forums. I am following the eGPU scene for a while.
I am considering to drop my desktop and switch to a laptop+egpu, but dont know what to get atm. Expresscard is a nice solution with optimus atm i think, with also internal screen possibility.
But thunderbolt is available too now, did someone already test the Bplus th05? is it worth it with x2 2.0 (instead of max x4 2.0)?
Is the Lucid software for internal screen mode + compression a good alternative for optimus? Lucidlogix with the multi gpu solution
I think i have 3 options right now:
1. Buy cheap laptop with expresscard now (eventually buy new laptop when tb is more common)
2. Buy second hand macbook air 13" with tb-port (still relatively expensive, no 1080p screen, no quad core, no upgradeble ram)
3. Wait for hasswell (2013?, problably expensive)
What do you think guys?

The recently anounced macbooks wil have pcie ssd built in, maybe this will open the doors for a pcie connection for eGpu
