They put most coding and developing effort where the money is. Money is, sadly, in the consoles. More often than not, we are getting some console leftovers. Poor optimization, console UI (Anyone remembers vanilla Skyrim? If that game didn't have such great modding tools, Bethesda would be eaten alive.), performance issues. Gaming also entered the shares market. People invest money there and expect results or the money will be withdraw. That is why consoles are a safe bet. Same with selling the same game on and on (AC series) with little to no improvements. Why risk it? Investors would withdraw money....From time to time we get a shiny gem but most of the time it is the same stuff.

Good thing the Indie scene has grown so strong. We have some variety and interesting titles comming out.

1. Make sure you have the correct file chosen in the Nvidia control panel. ARMA games have a launcher? If so, double check.

2. ARMA games are not really that great optimized. Something might be wrong in this field. Are you using preset settings or did you use your own? Ambiet Occlusion and AA are a killer for mobile GPUs. I would suggest turning them off

I do not trust HP laptops in general. I was in a similar situation once. Friend of mine had a HP and I got a Dell inspiron (Can't remember the model, it was a looong time ago, 6+ years). HP is currently in the laptop heaven and the old Dell still works as it should (For the hardware it has inside). Why not have two small laptops then? Small is beautiful and handy

I can confirm this setup works nicely. I have a simple SSD functioning as a storage for both, OS and the files. No trouble, system boots up lightning fast, overall work experience is better than with a normal HDD

I would advise leaving it in. Laptops were designed to have the battery inside. If you are using the mains, battery, at least to my knowledge, is not in use whatsoever. If you bought the laptop from one of the major brands, you will most likely find a replacement for a damaged battery if you should need one. Most importantly, by the time your battery wears completely down, you will have a new shiny laptop with everything fresh inside. So, whats the point?
