Do you mean disabling the HD79xx GPUs via setpci, or via the device manager? I've tried both even though I haven't tried disabling the hosting bridge.
If I disable them in Device Manager, one of them still comes online when Windows boots with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. If I disable them via setpci (just the adapters, not their bridge) Windows boots into a bluescreen.
Disabling the eGPU and the hosting chain, and then re-enabling them doesn't seem to do anything meaningful, the adapter still has code 12 after all is re-enabled.
Curious to see if win 10 will change anything in regard to eGPU on nMP

Thanks,
for now, when I start using the GTX 980Ti, the system always recognize 2715k as two separate display, one this 2560*1440 (half), another is 848*480 (WTF?!!)
I will keep moving on it .
Try this guide

Ahh sorry!
There is another thread with a classic Mac Pro and a GTX 980 with that screen.
Maybe that can be of some assistants

After three days struggling, I finally get 980Ti worked with the nMP.
But new things come out. My DELL UP2715K Display cannot work properly with eGPU.
I have two displays, one is DELL UP2715K which needs two display port link and a HD monitor also uses display port.
When I connect all of those three display ports to 980Ti, the system recognize the DELL UP2715K as two separated display, each is 2560*1440, but the HD display works properly.
Does any one have a DELL UP2715K with a eGPU? I think this has something to do with EDID.
But if I config the DELL UP2715K to use single link 4K mode, it works as usual.
Do you get 5k though?
The monitor works with 2 streams so its normal for OS X to recognise it as 2 different monitors. The main thing is to get 5k on the screen, There is a process you have to follow to get it working. Its not plug and play...
I remember someone saying on MR that there is some sort of process to getting it running, Google will be your friend on this one...

You most certainly need a jumper cable....
The GPU is getting NO power as the PSU is not on.... Fix that and I'm sure you will boot.

No eEFI needed.
goalque doesn't really know why this hack worked.
so many wonderful things figured out
Does it work in windows on a nMP?

@SimonSays: 4k@60Hz via GTX980 after running those additional terminal commands on nMP? If so, I will change the script in next version. Do you have a single or multi-slot enclosure?
Sorry I was referring directly to the D500's
Will test the new commands and report back

Hi,

Hey goalque,
Thank you for the wonderful script that you have written! I managed to get 10.10.3 to work with my 2013 15" with 750M dGPU + Titan X + Sonnet III-D. For the first time I now have a completely enclosed eGPU! I was willing to sacrifice Windows since I don't need it anymore.
However, I have come across a problem. The monitors I've tested my setup with are an HP 22xi with 1080p resolution and a Dell UP2414Q with a 4k resolution. The 22xi works great however, I can only use the UP2414Q at 3840x2160 30Hz! I cannot use it at 60Hz even though I have enabled DP 1.2 (MST) on the monitor. I've restored the monitor to its factory settings and I still get the problem. I don't know if you can help me with this because it might be a kext problem but it would be great if you could!
There are issues with MST monitors... Not SST though, i have a U590 @ 4k at 60hz... macrumours has a whole thread about it...

Version 0.9.1 is out: https://github.com/goalque/automate-eGPU
Hi
Much appreciate this,
My friend passed it on...
Just to let you know
it works minus the screen output on a nMP with a GTX 980
If you know how to fix this it would be appreciated.
Will also test on my MBP soon

Latest Web driver has a huge performance gain (Web Driver 346.02.02f03)

The bottleneck for you is Thunderbolt, Those test's are inside a Mac Pro through pcie 2x
Great OpenCL performance gains though
