Hi, I have been able to install everything as described and it worked just fine until today. Now I am getting the GRUB command line. Tried over and over again but nothing... Any Idea?
Thx!
Unplugging all USB devices on boot bacame the solution for me. Otherwise I get the Grub Prompt.

I'm tried of the limited gaming laptops have to offer, was going to go external GPU with a 970 Geforce.
Here is the model and specs, I want to make sure everything will work.
Toshiba Satellite s55-A
Intel Core i7-47000MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40Hz
8GB RAM
64 OS running windows 8.1
Can't see any reason why that wouldn't work as long as you have a place to connect the card on your machine.

4 gigs of RAM is fine for playing TW3. I've been playing it on my Macbook Air that has 4 gigs using a GTX 960 as my gpu.
However I am not very experienced with eGPU setups for PCs, just Macs. What you're definitely going to need though is a small PSU to power the card. I'd suggest an ATX one (unless you want to order and modify a Dell DA-2).
Not sure if what I provided helped that much. You'll need someone else than me around here to get the full list of components to buy.

The whole point with the step before this is to find the Windows boot EFI...

I guess he's got a 2012 MBPr with GT 650M, not GTX. But he doesn't tell anything, you have to guess or ask and then maaaaaybe he'll answer it. Sometime.
Yeah, not easy to provide help with such thin information [emoji14]

still i don't think it is working for me because I have a gtx650m
An m? How do you connect that to a mac? Aren't those already integrated in laptops?

Sounds neat for a super-portable DIY gaming thing if you could somehow squeeze it all into a single box [emoji2]

Nope still didn't change anything
Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the Grub prompt!
The reason why you can't see anything happening when typing in your password in the OSX terminal is just so you can't see what's written. You are actually typing it in although all you can see is a "●". Just type it in and hit enter. [emoji6]

Got a really odd problem here after installing Optimus on my MBA, Windows 8.1 x64 (bootcamp). Neither the trackpad nor the keyboard is working! I feel like I've tried everything to fix it, among uninstalling bluetooth drivers, reinstalling the bootcamp support software, and even done a complete reinstall of Windows with bootcamp followed by the entire Optimus installation process. It's really weird though, because other USB mice and keyboards work fine. The only button I can press on the integrated keyboard now is the power switch. Help? :S
MBPr + eGPU & Windows 10?

I remember having issues installing Windows 7 with bootcamp for my eGPU on a MacBook Air 13", so I went ahead and installed Windows 8.1 instead. However, when using optimus neither my integrated trackpad nor keyboard would work, even after reinstalling Bootcamp drivers.
Is this still a problem in Windows 10 with Optimus?
