How did you find that out? the copper plate is so tiny!

Do you also own a GS70?

Could you run a benchmark and post here the GPU temps?

Also, I tried to upgrade the firmware but I'm getting an error saying that the versions are not the same...

Flashing:

 

- Go to the device manager -> 'Display Adapters' -> chooser your GPU, right click on it and choose disable

- Flash the VBIOS with mnvflash, a modified version of nvflash (see attachments). Here are detailed instructions for nvflash in case you aren't familiar with it.

- After the flashing is done: Enable the GPU once again in the device manager.

- Reboot

Do NOT use driver 347.09, it's broken and useless and won't allow you to overclock, even with the stock firmware.

Don't distribute the files hosted here outside of Tech|Inferno. Don't modify the files you download here.

I do like the MSI GS70 I own! It's very slim and powerfull! The only downside IMO is the fans whistle that are ultra loud! But still, it's a very beautiful laptop. Just get the version with the Nvme drive though 

I really hate the GS70's fans... They're really hard to disassemble to get them clean...

I had the same problem a while ago... But mine was with the cable (broke it when reassembling the motherboard) so I have a spare module without the cable, with you haven't fixed yours yet, PM me and i can ship it to you~!

Hey guys I just came accross this post on Google because I'm having problems with my GPU throttling like crazy... But I don't have access to the download Klem posted...

I have a MSI GS70 with a 970m 6gb and it's really terrible having to deal with the Fan noise itself but even having them at full blow my 970m still throttles like crazy... 
 

I tried to undervolt it with Afterburner but I have no access to the voltage slider.

Already bought a laptop stand with fans, replaced the thermal paste with CoolLaboratory Liquid Pro,  undervolted CPU core, cache and the iGPU to make things run cooler but the 970m is still running super hot...

can anybody help me please?
