Try turning on Legacy boot support and make sure Secure Boot is off in bios. The default is UEFI only, which stops most USB drives unless you specifically formatted them for UEFI.

Yep, didn't work. Nothing worked at all. I even opened the laptop and removed the bios battery to try and reset it with no luck.
I'm in a similar boat, except I changed the ICG apeture and memory size. Using the fn + R and the USB on the right, I have noticed that it does access the drive briefly, but no luck. Does yours do the same? I would assume it would have to be a filename issue is so.

In the step where you have the reader downgrade to 2.07, have them double check that "Allow BIOS downgrade" is enabled. That's what caused a problem for me.
Yea, if you don't have this enabled, you'll get the error message: "BIOS version compare error!"

For those who have successfully installed it (not VM), what's your battery life lilke? SLI? My main complaint is my battery life is crap while my wife's Macbook seems to have an infinite battery.

Anyone successfully restored bios for Y510P? My recovery file should be named YX01.BI? but I can't get the ? named in anything, even linux. Using fn + R, my flash drive has brief activity twice, but then nothing happens, so I'm guessing the filename must be wrong.
Lenovo Y510p or somthing else ?

The touchpad on the Y510p is utter crap. There's TONS of web pages with tweaks, but the bottom line is that is very subpar. When I try to right click using the button, the button pushes down quite a bit (not a true button, but the surface of the pad) and the bending action makes my cursor move about 75% of the time, usually resulting in a misclick.
Battery life could be a lot better, but I did buy one with SLI, so I knew what I was getting into on that aspect.
