  1. Hi. Did anyone attempted to solder new bios chip after bricking?

    I have seen that some company is selling bios chips for our laptop. I am probably going to buy it. I havent bricked my laptop(jet) but just in case it happens I will have those chips.

    BIOS Chip:LENOVO Ideapad Y510P (Dual chips) | eBay

    I have also seen other seller but its for Y510, they look same but I dont know if they are actually same, as they come preprogrammed already.

    Also I am looking forward to buy this programmer if the chip will be compatible. I contacted the seller that I want to make sure what is the part number for bios chip of our laptop. I am too lazy to dissasemble my laptop again to look what part number it is :D

    SPI Flash Programmer WINBOND ST PMC MXIC ST SST ATMEL | eBay

    Edit: It seems like chips in our laptop are Winbond 25Q32FV and Winbond 25Q16DV And they are pretty cheap to buy on aliexpress.com even if you buy them in bulk so in any case cost of chip plus programmer is cheaper rather than sending it to lenovo.

    I ordered one of those chinese programmers. SP8-B SPI Programmer to be specific as it supports the chip we have in y510p and tommorow I am gonna order chips. I have to buy 10 of each but they are cheap. At least I have spare ones just in case.

  2. Hi all,

    Do you know how to emergency recover BIOS in Y510p? I tried to use common method of Insyde BIOS recovery (starting with USB flashdrive).

    I tried several options (formatting USB drive to different filesystems, using different USB drive sizes, sticking to different USB sockets, using different key-holding Fn-B, Fn-R, Fn-Esc, Win-B... etc, and starting laptop using both PowerOn key and "special" BIOS key on the left) but nothing worked.

    The filename I used was YX01.BIN (tried different filename extension as well... .rom, .bios, etc). No luck so far - Laptop starts but flashing procedure is not started.

    Do you have any ideas? Thanks.

    I found this:

    1.copy Yx01.bin to U disk root directory(none bootable) .

    2.shut down and unplug battery and power adapter.

    3.insert U disk.

    4.press and hold the Fn+R hotkey.

    5.plug in the power adapter.

    6.release Fn+R hotkey.

    7.boot pc.

    8.wait...

  3. Hmm...It's not game fault. I'm 100% sure. Each game I trying to play with SLI enabled is ending with crash. Tested dying light , bf3 , bf4 , Bf hardline , middle earth , zombie Army trylogy , even gothic 3 ... Im dump. I feel rly bad. I payed for gaming laptop so much money and it working lukę 3/4 of price version with one card. I have Clue for you : never buy laptop with SLI especially from Lenovo... Peace out. I Retrie.

    EDIT: I fixed it partially by Forceware_coolbits from Guru3D.com but still there are situations for example in CS:GO where i getting random artifacts and display freeze/sound loop occur. Now i can play GTA 5 with sli with no crashes but it isnt complete fix. I'm looking for help from you :D .

    I have the same problem with CSGO and Dying Light.

    I tried:

    - Windows 8 System Recovery;

    - Installed Windows 7;

    - A lot of cooling mod;

    - Disabled 2 Cores and Threads Cores;

    - Removed the ultrabay card;

    - Underclock and Undervoltage;

    - Bios Mod.

    Nothing worked.

    Finally, today I tried to dump my vbios and the Y510p and it bricked. :23_002:
