Okay I just backed up the bios but when I drag it to biosfixer nothing happens. the window opens and tells me to use at my own risk but the bios file isnt being modified or anything. II'm not sure whats going on.

I run it as administrator, just get the little applet window, i go into properties and set it to run as administrator and drag bios file into it, same thing. I'm really unsure if this is correct or not.

Wanting to buy my wife a new computer for her dying ideapad. She doesn't really do any gaming or anything intensive on her computer, just using Office, browsing, streaming.

Thinking the full windows version of the yoga or surface might be the way to go for someone with those needs. Anyone have strong thoughts one way or the other?

Anyone know of good split-screen PC games to play with a spouse that's not a gamer? Ie, a ploy of trying to get her at least somewhat into it.

Thats an awful trade. even if you only recover $1000 you can build a better pc than that.

If someone had stats handy on numbers of pc gamers vs console gamers I'm sure it'ld help. I do agree with above posts though that probably the biggest reason is basic cost on optimization for fixed hardware vs varying setups.

Honestly though the thing that bugs me most about crappy console ports is that that they are crappy, unluckily I've come to expect that. The thing that really pisses me off is when a developer, say....Bioware, says they have worked hard to optimize for PC, on say their latest big title which is #3 of a series that started on PC and was a tribute to PC RPGs of old, and then it turns out to be a big pile of shit. Seriously, Inquisition's PC UI is such shit. Tactical camera is garbage on PC. ANyway sorry, i was really looking forward to Inquisition and have benched it until a PC patch is released.

I recently had a similar problem and just opted to upgrade my cooler to an h100i (super overkill and not as good as a custom loop, i know) and OC the 2500k to 4.7. Its honestly silly how easy it is to oc this thing.

Well after scouring the web I'm glad I finally stumbled here. I had never really noticed the card being flaky before but as soon as I moved into graduate housing and relying on a campus network it started flaking out. It wasn't noticable in browsing or streaming but the second I tried any online gaming I was rubber-banding, freezing etc. Likewise with any big file downloads, random spikes. Following the advice here I ordered an Intel 7260 HMWG on amazon. Hopefully gets here soon. I still have my main desktop that works flawlessly but I need my laptop working also heh.

Honestly I'm not sure if I should blame Lenovo or Intel on this one. Yes lenovo put the card in the laptop but its freaking intel's card. I found many threads on intel's forums related to the 2230n and its crappiness.

I will blame Lenovo for scumming it up with a whitelist though.
