Has anyone been able to fix this problem where the brightness setting keys don't work and neither does Windows 8.1's Brightness control on the right side?
I would like to know how anybody has fixed it before I attempt to do a full reinstallation of Windows 8.1 to see if it works again?
If angerthosenear thoughts don't worry try these two optiions
A thought....
1, unistall both your 4700mq and 750m drivers , then reinstall the originals from Laptops and netbooks :: IdeaPad Y Series laptops :: IdeaPad Y510p Notebook - Lenovo Support (US)
after that reboot and update the drivers. I had this issue for quite a while (however I was running archlinux at the time!)

Hi
Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this.
I have newly bought a Lenovo Y510P and was wondering about Clean installation of Windows 8.1.
The computer i bought came with Windows 8.1 core.
And since there is no way for me to get an ISO of the OS to make a clean install i had some questions.
Can i use any OEM Windows 8.1 ISO and still get it to "sync" with the key in my bios.
Or do I have to have the exact OEM image to make it work.
I know this was the case in Windows 7 but since this Windows 8.1 is a bit more complex it might be possible now?
I live in Sweden and this would realy help me if this is the case.
try NirSoft keyviewer and select msdm

Nope. Its completely done by EC and every owner of y510p cant control fan speed. There has been some mods to keep fans at 100 percent but it requires physical modding of laptop.
I'm not well versed on the matter, but is it not possible to emulate the effect that Lenovo's enery management utility uses to for 'dust removal'. For ex; my y510p has a dust removal setting that drives all fans up to what i imagine would be 100%.

Intel Extreme Turning Utility, it works pretty nice and will let you mess with almost anything on your cpu except disabling turbo boost (unless you just underclock it to 2.4ghz). It will also let you mess with your intel HD, unless you have an ultrabay card in.
DO you know if this would void warranty or anything silly like that?
Is it detectable?

also it would make sense to put the most played games on the ssd.
bf3 for instace loads a lot faster from ssd so your always first on server which gives u the possibility to pick the vehicles first
otherwise its best to safe money and buy a new laptop in Q2 2015 if you want more power
Isn't BF set up so that there is a wait prior to actually starting a match?

Not that this helps, but I have had that issue with my y510p for ages, along with my MacBook air, I thought it was just my luck. Glad to hear someone else has these issues...
Do you have SLI(would it be enabled at the time of these failures?)?
