regarding more tan 2gb issue you can do a dsdt override.NOW to work with the internal screen you need to have an Intel hd integrated ghrapics to active optimus.i sugeest try sell your laptop and buy one at least with second generation icore.
Thank you for the reply! So it is as I suspected/feared.. Unfortunately I couldn't find this information earlier but at least now I own an eGPU :-) Is it Optimus that require an Intel iGPU so that it can't be tricked? I was hoping that it would work with any iGPU but it doesn't seem to be like that. Buying a new laptop isn't a priority right now so I'll just have to play games on my stationary PC and not while on the go.
I'll check the DSDT override if I get another incentive to try the eGPU with my current laptop.

Did you get it to work? I'm trying to get my GTX 460 to work with the internal screen on my laptop to no success. My laptop also only has an ATI onboard graphic chip, no Intel even though it's an Intel CPU.

Yes, Setup 1.30 willl help deal any mPCIe slot whitelisting as well as disable your NVidia dGPU. The latter necessary to activate x1 pci-e compression and internal LCD mode using the eGPU rather than dGPU.
Hi!
I recently set up my old ASUS F3Sr laptop with a Nvidia GTX 460 through a PCIe-adapter and it works relatively well with an external monitor. What I would like though is for it to work with the internal screen if possible. The laptop has an integrated ATI HD2400 which makes me wonder whether or not it will work with Setup 1.x. Do you have any experience with a setup like that? There is no internal intel gpu, only ATI.
Oh, I also had to remove 2 GB of RAM, I'm guessing that I will have to live with the lower amount even with a working Setup 1.x?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks again, but I have no intention to further upgrade my old, half working laptop. I've already upgraded the CPU, RAM and storage (SSD) so not much more to do. I was hoping for en eGPU that allowed me to play on the internal screen so that I could bring the laptop and a small custom built case with eGPU and PSU but having to use an external screen makes it less alluring. Don't know if the computer would support 2x but there is a free mPCIe so it could be possible at least and if I could have used the internal screen I might have gone for it.
I'm going to keep my setup for my next laptop, but I've noticed that ExpressCard is not so widely available with todays "THIN!!" craze.
