  1. It's normal.

Battery can't provide enough power to GPU so GPU down clock itself by default when you're on battery and if you force the GPU to run at full speed on battery, it's likely that you notebook will shut off or your battery will be fried or explode.

Well if you want to force it. I used to see someone post that you can use nvidia inspector to force it.

Battery doesn't last very long at all if you are doing anything intensive anyhow......almost have to have it plugged in to do anything worthwhile.

  2. Just to confirm something. Since a lot of people tend to make the mistake about this.

Is your memory DDR3L one? DDR3L is the one with 1.35v not DDR3 which is 1.5v. Since y510p with haswell cpu can only use DDR3L one. If you use ddr3 one on y510p, it will cause instability since notebook can't provide enough voltage to ram.

Yeah realised it was DDR3......too bad because it performed well in my other laptop (that died)

  3. Can I attach an Intel 7260 to my laptop, get it running, then update my bios to 3.0.5?

Right now the version of the flashed BIOS is causing me some problems so I want the 3.0.5 version again.

Will that reset my BIOS back to the default one with the list for permitted network cards?

If you update the bios after, it enables the lenovo whitelist again, and only the permitted cards will be allowed.
