  1. Also, the 6-pins connector is placed really awkwardly. The longer the card, the harder it will be for the 6-pin splitter cable to reach the end of the card (where the 6/8-pins connectors often are on gpu's)
  2. Did some measuring and this should be pretty close to how the v6 fits in the chassis: Seeing this, I'd say the v6 fits better than the v7. The v7 has the pcie slot yet further away to the right but the 8-pin connector is to the left.
  3. I don't really see the appeal of MXM cards, they're less powerful and more expensive? The only thing MXM has got going for it is mobility. The chassis is really compact (13.5 x 15 x 3.2 cm) but how is it powered? It probably needs some laptop adapter so it's still going to be a bulky pack.
  4. Well as the woman who helped me stated, it simply wasn't actually in stock yet. But I didn't really get an option to just wait for it to restock either. I immediately got refunded. The EXP GDC v7 you posted was recently added to the first post already
  5. I submitted a ticket at yoybuy.com since the chassis appears in stock yet my orders get refunded with the reason 'out of stock'. So it's still going to take a month to stock :/
  6. The order for the chassis I made on yoybuy.com apparently got refunded a day after I ordered without any further notice. It said it was refunded because the item was out of stock. Has anyone else ordered one already? I just made a new order since I figured I might've been too fast with ordering
  7. Bahhh are you kidding me, I just ordered a v6 ;-; Oh well, I hope the chassis fits both v6 and v7.
  8. @jacobsson Perhaps it would be a good idea that you add a link to the chassis in the first post, my post will likely get buried pretty fast
  9. The chassis was newly added to taobao.com so I think it's most likely made for the most recent version of the EXP GDC (the v6 version). I'll be able to confirm compatibility with the EXP GDC v6 once I receive the EXP GDC and the chassis. Also, the hole in the side is just meant for the cables to go in to the chassis, you can probably take the whole perforated cover off to install the EXP GDC and the gpu, then reinstall the cover and simply insert cables through the hole.
  10. I'll definitely put some pictures up once I get it. I also got a notification of Banggood that the EXP GDC was back in stock so they will send that out to me soon. Hopefully I'll be able to install the egpu in the enclosure as soon as I get it
  11. I've just come across this enclosure on yoybuy.com. EXP GDC external video card metal chassis 29CM Item I think it's a new item because I haven't seen it before, the stock is exactly 300 and noone's ordered one yet. It looks really nice, in fact better (and cheaper) than the modded Hammond chassis I was planning on building. Ordering one now
  12. As far as I've been able to find out, your laptop is not equipped with an Expresscard slot. If you have a spare MPcie connector on your motherboard or don't mind losing your WiFi capabilities you can hook the EXP GDC up to an MPcie slot. BTW: I'm planning on using some extra fans in my enclosure. My 560 ti will need both 6 pin connections so I basically have no options to power the fans (3 pins). The only thing I've been able to find so far is going from one of the 6pins -> 3x molex and have 2x molex power a 6pins connector again and use the third molex to power the fans. I'm pretty sure this is a bad idea though. Since I'm tapping power from the 6pin that the card needs even though the fans only draw 0.8watts according to the product info sheet. Is there any other easy way to power these fans with the DA-2 without leaving my 560 ti unpowered? I haven't got any means to solder wires (nor the experience) so I would like to avoid anything like that.
  13. Hey folks, I bought an Elitebook 2560p some time ago and found out about egpu's because of it. Naturally I stumbled upon your infinitely helpful threads here on Tech Inferno. I've just now ordered a EXP GDC v6 from Banggood and look forward to receiving it. I figured now would be a good time to join the forum. Also, I'd like to extend my gratitude already to @jacobsson and especially @Tech Inferno Fan for their really helpful information. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you guys put so much effort in to helping the DIY egpu community.
