Yes and no...On some legacy desktop apps it does but there are more and more apps arriving now with support for high res displays. Honestly, I love it but I understand the concern.

Dell have really ruined the Alienware experience for many - including myself. I had a 2 month long saga trying to return an Alienware 14 that arrived in a broken condition. Dell's CS is terrible and makes you do all of the work I sympathize with the OP

I had a 1080p 27" PVA panel (Benq). It was fantastic for gaming, but sadly not very good for anything else. Desktop apps just looked pixellated and blurry. Depends on what you'd need it for I would say...

I've used Macway France before. Decent service, would reccomend!
