Guys, the Y series from lenovo only has a 2.4GHz tuned antenna. If you use them with a radio capable of 5GHz operations line 11a, 11n in 5g or 11ac the performance on long distances will suffer. Just an FYI. close range is ok.

The issue with the y510 is that the antenna is only rated for 2.4GHz operations. The antenna must match be tuned and calibrated for operations in 5GHz mode, if you try to use it in 5GHz the performance would be pretty poor. If you wish to proceed with the internal pcie card, you don't have to buy those cards with 5GHz support (11ac included).

The best cards I've used in linux are atheros based cards. If you want 3x3 chain I suggest looking for cards based on the AR9380 chipset if only 2x2 then you can go for the AR9280 cards.

What app is used for the game dock?

The bios chip should be fine. If you had a bad flash/burn in the bios, it wont produce the 7 beeps.
