  1. Hey guys, :)

I am on the way home, with a brand new W230SS and WQHD screen in the luggage!

The Prema Mod project will soon get my attention back... ;)

OT: My friend with cancer is getting better each day, THX to all your good wishes and prayers. :)

P.S.: Left my trusted W230ST with a friend in Germany, if anyone there or in rest of Europe is looking for one, just PM me.

Glad to hear the good news about your friend Prema! ...and wellcome back!

By the way I got the stock BIOS from SAGER, it is System BIOS V 1.03.06LS1 EC V 1.03.02. If you happen to want it, let me know.

    Cheers!

  2. Hi Prema, I have a question.

I have my Sager NP7338 (Clevo W230ss) and had installed your last moded BIOS right after receiving it. I'm running Linux (Mint 17) and encountered some weird issues when plugging a USB sound Card (Tascam US122L). When I plug it in, the card is recognized but right after it, linux encounters a problem related to XHCI and shuts down all my USB ports. I know that there could be several issues going on but my question is how the BIOS part works as I disabled XHCI and EHCI, just in case under USB settings, but I still having the issue. Shall this settings work like that?

Another one, if I want to go back to stock BIOS just to try.. is there any "briking risk"? Or I should be good to give it a try?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

  3. Actually I come across another problem. Since few days I have noticed that when I'm compiling something under Linux, CPU temp gets over 90* C. I think it's too high for i7-4800mq, especially as sensors reports 100* C as critical value.

I wonder why CPU fan does not run full speed on lower temps (eg. 80-85* C)? Is there any special BIOS setting for this or do I have to reflash BIOS/etc?

    Hi there,

As far as I understand, Prema actually implemented some constant low speed strategies on BIOS fan configurations. Did you already checked on yours?

  4. Hi! I'm still waiting for my W230ss and reading the forum (as well as collecting post to be able to eventually download the BIOS, hahaha). Is there any documentation I could read to get to know the different parameters one can tweak and the "safe limits" not to burn anything?

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Hey I have a W370SS and on normal usage that fan is absolutely silent, unless you manually set the fan to maximum speed then that's when you start to hear it. (Or if for some reason you're playing a game that the laptop finds resource intensive) (I've yet to play a game and have the fan reach maximum speed)

Thanks Lobofly! Well, bare in mind that your machine is 17". the W230SS is 13" and the space is pretty tight on there. Anyway, I can't wait to start playing with this thing.

  6. Thank you Prema for such a dedicated work! I'm expecting my Clevo W230SS in the next coming weeks. I just found the Thread and will have to start studying overclocking / undervolting parameters and strategies not to mess up things. Nevertheless my main concern on the updated BIOS is the possibility to tweak cooling strategies to minimize heat effects and noise on normal operation (I've been reading quite a few posts on noise problems).

    Thanks!
